The lack of coverage is somewhat appalling. This next thread The Breakdown posted has more details and the letter that never got sent!

https://bsky.app/profile/thebreakdow.../3lrota5yrk223

This is sworn as a draft copy of the letter AHS wanted to send to a charter surgical facility as part of their investigation into conflict of interests. Allegedly, the govt refused to let it be sent.
The 1st page identifies several companies that AHS wanted confirmation of the ownership of. (The 3 numbered companies are the ones we reported on in October) It also asks for clarification on the role former AHS procurement employee Blayne Iskiw has with these companies.
The 2nd page further inquires into Mr Iskiw’s involvement. It also inquires into the role of Jitendra Prasad and Sam Mraiche. It also inquires as to anything of value given to Mr Iskiw or Mr Prasad as far back as Dec 1, 2019.
The 3rd page requests financial information. It also requests the information by January 13th.
As we stated earlier in this thread and noted in other posts, this letter was never sent. According to the sworn affidavit, it was shut down by government. There was, however, another letter.

To see the pages of the letter click the link and view the thread.

Everybody who’s been paying attention to what Alberta Danielle Smith has been saying and doing for years understands that her government’s new policy of forcing Albertans to pay for COVID-19 immunization has precious little to do with saving the $135 million worth of unused doses she claims was “flushed down the drain last year.”
Ms. Smith took to the airways Saturday to repeat and embellish that particular talking point about the policy#on her bi-weekly CORUS Radio#Your Province/Your Premier#program#with her usual blithe confidence, which is frequently untethered to verifiable facts

Gee, who would people not bother getting something they are continually told by their paste eating premier isn't very good, and zero public health messaging is provided to educate the public on, as has been well know to be required if you want to increase immunization rates.

You'd think this mashed potato brained morons would be learning a thing or two about what happens when you don't do that, with the whole measles thing. So now, instead of families getting a covid vaccine to help protect their 80 your old grandparents when they visit, they'll skip it because it will be hard to access and expensive. This will kill people. Vulnerable Albertans will be at higher risk of hospitalizations, there will be more sickness causing more lost wages, increased strains on healthcare, and more isolation for those who struggle the most.

And we knew this is exactly who she is, but I guess people just really like being punched in the face.

“The government’s claim that this is being done to save money and recover costs makes no sense from a moral or logical perspective,” Smith said in a statement.

She added it will put thousands of Albertans seeking health care at risk when they are most vulnerable, along with endangering thousands of their caregivers.

“It is absolutely irresponsible to force health-care workers in both public and private workplaces to place orders in August and pay to receive a vaccine that is an essential component of workplace health and safety,” said Smith, whose union represents more than 35,000 nurses and allied workers.

It really is so dumb. So when HCW get sick, there will be fewer to support the increased number of sick patients. This will mean more overtime and burnout.

They've finally figured out how to weaponize stupidity.

After Alberta Premier Danielle Smith runs into rowdy opposition at a recent town hall in southern Alberta, we invite experts Dr. Bill Dohanue and Cornelis Kolijn and activist/musician Corb Lund for an in-depth look at the economics, environmental impact, and politics of coal mining on Alberta's eastern slopes.

Man, that quote was so weird to read until I realized it was a different 'Smith' saying it.

Eliminating the bureaucratic vortex in hospitals
Gah! A bureaucratic vortex!

Quote:
That’s why Alberta’s government is changing to a hospital-based leadership structure. On-site leadership teams will be responsible for hiring staff, managing resources and solving problems to effectively serve their patients and communities. Hospitals will now have the flexibility to respond, freedom to adapt and authority to act, so they can meet the needs of their facilities, patients and workforce in real time.
Quote:
AHS’ health zones will be eliminated, and acute care sites will be integrated into the seven regional corridors. These sites will operate under a new leadership model that emphasizes site-level performance management. Clear expectations will be set by Acute Care Alberta, and site operations will be managed by AHS through a hospital-based management framework. All acute care sites will be required to report to Acute Care Alberta based on these defined performance standards.

If you are thinking this is a step you need to take to sell off individual facilities to private operators justifying it with poor performance because you kneecapped management, you'd be off to a good start. Anyone who can't see exactly what is going on here isn't looking hard enough, and it isn't a 3D stereogram. More like Hungry Hungry Caterpillar.

Hope y'all have good company provided insurance, because you are gonna need it to get reasonable levels of care in this province soon enough.

The other big news is they eliminated the wasteful decentralized model of 5 separate health zones. It's now streamlined to 7 separate regional health corridors. Wait times are plummeting in anticipation.

After a 21-month wait, the Alberta government has released to Postmedia the results of its 2023 provincial pension plan engagement survey, which show nearly two-thirds of respondents were opposed to leaving the Canada Pension Plan (CPP).

Postmedia first filed a request for responses from the survey a week after it opened in September of 2023, and followed up with multiple further requests in the following months, all of which produced either no records or records that were entirely redacted.

Last December, the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner opened reviews into the government’s response to three requests: one seeking a summary of the survey results, a second looking for copies of the open-answer questions in the survey, and a third for completed copies of the pension workbook that was distributed in late 2023.

Mediation with the OIPC prompted the government to release copies of the workbooks to Postmedia in May and the survey’s long-form answers this week.

The finance ministry released a summary of the survey results to Postmedia on Wednesday outside of the access to information process.

According to that summary, 63 per cent of respondents were opposed to an Alberta pension plan (APP), 10 per cent were in favour of an APP, and 12 per cent were undecided or unsure.

Major initiatives supported by CPE in recent years include the $8 million Tell the Feds advertising campaign opposing federal net-zero emissions regulations and a $7.5 million campaign promoting the Alberta Pension Plan.

The UCP’s transfer of CPE continues the consolidation of the province’s communications apparatus and the expansion of the executive council by the Smith government.

Earlier this year, the controversial Canadian Energy Centre, an “energy war room” created by former premier Jason Kenney’s government to counter critics of Alberta’s oil sector, was also folded into the premier’s office, adding an additional $4.8 million to its budget.

The 2025-26 budget for the premier’s office and Executive Council is $25.7 million, up from about $21 million the previous year, which Smith said is needed to cover increased staffing expenses.
So, the non-partisan communications arm of the government is now openly super partisan.

But we can't have AHS wasting any money on vaccines. That would be ridiculous.
