Default Chilling drunk driving PSA

Not sure how old this is, but it's the first time I've seen it. This is as hard hitting a PSA as I've ever seen.

Might give some parents the feeling that they don't want their kids playing in the backyard for awhile...

I know it's wrong, but I chuckled when it showed the driver's face as the car "flips"

edit: oh and it was kind of ironic that I got the Red Stripe beer commercial before the actual video played

Totally ineffective. Shock for the sake of shock from an agency more than likely trying to win an award with it.

Pretty hard hitting imo. I sure couldn't live with the shame and this is why I haven't drove after even one drink in over 4 years.. before that I was a bit more liberal, commercials similar to this are what smartened me up.

Proof right here that this kind of advertiseing DOES work.

You would be the exception then because the consensus is this type of approach doesn't work. If anything it makes it easy for people to simply flick the channel. The shock approach often backfires because the shock overwhelms the key message.

One of the most effective drinking and driving ads is one that we have seen for years, with glasses being placed in front of the camera to blur the vision. It succeeds because it very clearly communicates a key message - that even after one drink the alcohol is starting to have an impact. But the idea is very simple, and thus works.

I think you'd have to rank the kid trying out the wheelchair up there with what Jiri is talking about.

It doesn't need to be disturbing, cause a vast majority doesn't like disturbing, and another major segment will enjoy the disturbing, and thus not get the message.

I did not watch the clip, nor do I want to. No one needs to scare me into getting behind the wheel after drinking... I have too much comon sense.

As do we all, I'm hoping.

But maybe take 60 seconds and check out the vid and decide for yourself if it is better or worse than the 1990 vid that Jiri is talking about.

.

Okay. Now that one was a little over the top. Going for pure shock value. (moreso than the one I posted)

Still not bad, though. (but a little over the top)
