Would we be happy with Raz + Zary for 4th overall? I would be and I like Zary. What about Raz + Frost? I doubt Utah does that one.

However, as you've stated Coleman definitely LOVES Calgary as well, he certainly doesn't hate it here and he would be fine to ride out his contract and try to win with the Flames.
But Dallas is home, Dallas is where he lives when he's not in Calgary and both families have remained in Dallas.
What do people think about Coleman to Dallas for Bourque + pick maybe?

I’d rather that than the offer sheet route that gets tossed around if the Fkames are interested in Bourque.

No. Having said that on draft day last year I would have taken Iginla over Parekh, now not so much. The Flames aren’t a Zary+Andersson away from the playoffs (see last year) but your point is taken.
The proposal is more hope fueled than reality founded, but to a team looking to push for the playoffs an anchor d and young player with potential should have significant value.

I think Coleman for Bourque probably does it. Bourque is a late first with 5 years of development and a reasonable bet to play at least 300 NHL games. Much more established prospect then what teams will usually part with for a Coleman type.

For the record, I think Parekh > 4th OV 2025 and Parekh > Tij Iginla.

I'd definitely trade Coleman for Bourque + or even 2026 or 2027 unprotected 1st.

Neither of those get the 4th overall. Andersson will get a mid to late 1st as the base imo and Zary probably isn’t worth much more than a late 1st.
Parekh is probably the only piece that a team might give up the 4th overall for

Backlund and Coleman still have big value for the Flames breaking in their young wingers. They cover mistakes which helps build confidence. They and Weegar are the last three vets I’d like to see traded unless the return is absolutely massive or the Flames embrace the full rip it down rebuild.

This has to be the year some of the kids push a guy like Coleman down the lineup.
Do you assume that happens and trade Coleman at the draft, or wait until camp to see if some of the kids take spots?
I really think our log jam at wing is going to pop this camp with 2-3 guys earning spots on the starting night lineup.
I think Coleman is great. He really won me over. Put he makes more sense on Dallas than here. He can help them win a cup. He'll be a grandpa by the time Flames contend.

I’d much rather get picks over a Bourque another 3rd liner muddying up our depth chart.
Picks will have more value in the market and get you in the games with more ammo when a Eichel or Rantanen hit the market.

Oooooofff….thats bad. I think if you are taking Dumba off their hands you don’t need to add Coleman to that.

He'll probably turn out a lot like Huberdeau actually. The Flames definitely don't need two Huberdeaus though. Not the player for them.

Ottawa is a tough trade partner, don’t have a ton of prospects of interest and doubtful they want to part with their 1st this year since they don’t have one in 2026.
Dylan Cozens, that’s it.

Andersson is not getting a top 10 pick or player recently drafted in the top 10. Way too high expectation.

That would be wild.
Calgary was very high on him, but I can’t see Ottawa trading him straight up for Andersson.
Stranger things have happened and Ottawa does want to compete NOW not 2 years from now.
Guess it comes down to what they’d be willing to give up. Pinto would create a pretty big hole, and if I’m Craig I’m asking for Yak first.
Again I just don’t know if Rasmus extends in Ottawa.

If you are Conroy, who are you asking for second. Assuming Conroy doesn't get hung up on.
If Ottawa decided to move Yak (they won't), they would want a young dman with term. Not a dman who will require an 8 year extension that will be bad on the back end.

I honestly don’t see the fit at all because I don’t see Rasmus extending and his value is highest if he does.
But Ottawa fans seem to think Pinto straight across, including Garroch who’s quite connected. Again I just don’t see it.
Ottawas window is now, and if they view Yakemchuk as expendable (not that I think they do) then Andersson is better now with an extension and maybe they also get a depth forward as well. It’s not completely crazy, and if I’m Craig and it’s Ottawa calling me constantly that’s who I’m asking for.

If we could get a Zary type player from any team for a late 1st I'd do it in a heart beat. I think you're under valuing both Andersson and Zary here. IMO the value is pretty close, but CGY needs to add a bit more.
4th overall picks:
W. Smith
S. Wright
L. Hughes
---
L. Raymond (#1LW/RW)
B. Byram ( #2D)
B. Tkachuk (#1LW)
C. Makar ( Franchise D )
J. Puljujarvi ( Bust )
M. Marner (#1RW)
S. Bennett (#2C)
S. Jones (#2/3D)
G. Reinhart ( Bust )
A. Larsson (#4D)
R. Johansen (#1b/2C)
E. Kane (#2LW)
A. Pietrangelo (#1D)
T. Hickey ( Bust )
N. Backstrom (#1C)
B. Pouliot (#3LW)
A. Ladd (#2LW)
Based on those player it would be a huge Flames win with 7/17 picks, even trade with 5/17, and a big Flames loss with 5/17.
