ugh cliffhanger. Poor Jesse. "He can't die!"

Not bad but they could have done without the tsunami on the boat.

That’s a solid episode.

Stupid to have it as a cliff hanger but really enjoyed that one

What was with the last scene and why did it end on a flashback to two days earlier?

Is that just signaling that they're going to delve into Abby's POV now?

Weird.

I thought there was going to be torture or something based on all the commotion around the theater scene. Since Abby is all about that slow death ####. At least he got it quick.

I liked the season overall. I think I was more invested than in S1. The first was more about spotting the shooting locations tbh. This time I cared about the story and (some) characters.

These seasons are WAY too short though. I'd kill for a few world building episodes sprinkled in there. It's a cool universe that's still largely untapped. The infected were pretty much non-existent in that episode too. Rather than conflicts between groups I'd like to see some bloaters crawl out of a sewer because that kind of stuff is fun.

Haven't played the second game, so this is pure speculation, but I think that's where it's going.

Doesn't sound like there's going to be a third game, so I'm guessing HBO is trying to milk the current content as much as they can. I'm sure we'll see some Fireflies-related spinoff, too.

It worked so well for GoT, so I can't wait.

That death reminded me of when Brian Austin Green was put down in the terminator TV series

He should have went with that girl from Alberta. At least now Ellie's gonna get Jesse's Girl.

The second game is about 10 hours longer than the first so it would be tough for them to fit everything into one season. They already skipped things from where we're at now.

For anyone who hasn't played the game and doesn't know what next season will be about Catherine O'Hara pretty much spoiled it in a interview.

Ellie should have drowned being weighed down with all that plot armour.

Yeah. That was totally ridiculous and unnecessary. That entire 3 mins was not needed. Stupid kid wanted to gutted her, oh bird calls are going off so we'll just leave her.

The boat scene with the big wave felt very video game-y. Feel bad for Jesse. Presumably Abby was the one who got shot in the cut to black, but I guess we'll see whenever S3 premieres.

I read somewhere online (believe it was an entertainment site like Variety or Deadline -- still, take with a giant grain of salt) that Naughty Dog may be pushing out a TLOU3 game, which might explain why the show is all but certain to go 4 seasons.

Seems like forgiveness, and the cost of not forgiving, are big themes here. Ellie does have that plot armor as mentioned, but her actions sure have consequences for everyone else. Jesse's dead (it seems), Owen's dead, his pregnant WLF girlfriend is dead. And of course, we saw the consequences Joel received for his actions. Funny that Seth told everyone to grow up in the town council when other dude was preaching forgiveness -- learn the hard way, I guess? Or at least be prepared for the consequences if you pursue vengenace/justice/whatever you want to call it.

She swam to shore while wearing a backpack. Yeah, ok.

This in a world with no swimming lessons. And from what I saw of Jackson, no boating lessons either lol.

Cliff hangers at the end of a season are the stupidest goddamn thing ever.

That, and the second game is pretty much three parts.

So I'm assuming the gunshot is from Dina who was up in the loft overlooking the entrance, and not Abby shooting the protagonist in the head?

You can google it if you really want to know, assuming they don’t change it. But I’d wait the 2 years and not spoil it.

I've never played the games and have no idea who takes the shot, but it's probably not someone you'd expect at this point. That's why they are starting over at day 1 in Seattle to tell the story of those few days from Abby's perspective. She obviously had some stuff going on with the WLFs and that leader dude, and there was even a big battle that happened all while we were following Ellie and her group.

Not sure I like the lines they added with Mel as she's dying. Really made it even tougher watch versus the game.

The two (most?) moral characters (Owen and Jessie) tie themselves to Abby and Ellie and pay the ultimate price.

Apparently it was a component in the game they wanted but couldn't keep. They talk about it in their weekly podcast behind the scenes. More world building about the Seraphites, how they are now wired to immediately kill outsiders with no question even one who was will to die to save one of them just hours ago. Gives a bookend to what Issac and his army is up to on that island for when the point of view flips in the next season. And the universe giving Ellie another chance to turn away but her sense of justice and addiction to keep chasing after Abby.

It's a little ironic that Ellie's inability to swim is the source of a constant ongoing game mechanic that it's pretty much a meme from the first game.

Not to mention a water-logged gun is not going to be super-reliable.

Salt-water at that.
