If by Shy Tory Factor, you mean that anyone to the right of the loudmouth progressives on CP refrain from posting for fear of getting shouted down and dogpiled?
This type of behaviour got Smith and Trump elected.

Oh good lord. If you're incapable of defending your position then don't present it in the first place. Getting shouted down and dogpiled is the organic result of rejecting your s### opinion.
A myriad of incalculable absurdity - including tribalism and general laziness of character - got Smith and Trump elected. Stop whinging about being held accountable and actually make some concerted effort towards being accountable.
Now, back to the show.

It’s always the guys who have said some downright gross, nasty things about other people and been challenged on it that want to turn around and blame it on the fact that they aren’t “progressive.”
I do find this whole conversation a bit odd though, and to put the focus a little more on this actual trial, it’s pretty interesting how the perceived left/right paradigm shifts, where the right are very often the “tough on crime” types, and the further right you go, the more advocating that charter rights or due process be ignored you see (look at any case involving fentanyl, indigenous people, or where mental health is a factor). But when the accused are young, white, wealthy hockey players, it’s suddenly “progressive” or “liberal” to share any of those “tough on crime” traits.
You’ll have the same people who vote for far right individuals who promise to take away/ignore the rights of people accused of having a personal use amount of fentanyl, turn around and suggest that even a slight bias against people accused of sexual assault is due to being too “liberal” or “left leaning.” It’s kind of fascinating what crimes they treat charitably.
Anyways. I’m curious to see where the prosecution goes next. But the public sentiment around it and how it’s influenced is as interesting as anything else on the days off.

I don’t know about shy tory syndrome, but certainly as a conservative I don’t see the need to post political opinions on a very vocal left leaning forum. It’s like posting something positive about Edmonton, it comes across a nothing more than an attempt to troll. There is no civility, it’s ******* fascist, ******* mouth breathing morons, wishing personal/physical harm on conservative politicians or their supporters.
Trump just had a very successful middle east trip. The trade deals will help the US, It was a win. I would say this whether it was Bush, Obama, Biden or Trump. But what benefit is it to post/discuss that here? I don’t need to “defend” this position as it is blatantly obvious. However this board would respond to a post like this with vitriol/hatred. So why would I bother. It’s not a group to have a serious discussion with. The silence isn’t shyness we’ve just moved on.

And this is why 'conservatives' get dog-piled.
Your definitions and how very fluid they are.
The middle east trip was very successful for Trump and his family.
It more closely aligns the U.S. with dictatorships who do not value human rights.
Oh, and the bribery. The mountains and mountains of bribery.
If any other president did this Y'all would be calling for their heads, literally.
It is this blatant hypocrisy that gets dog-piled. If you think there were some successes, then say them and explain how that is enough to override the emoluments clause in the Constitution.
This group is very capable of having serious discussions. this thread we have derailed is an excellent example. Most 'conservative' posters are not interested in that, as when they are invited to discuss, they post the drivel we have seen here.

Sled and Eubee are the same person as evidenced by this exchange.
And it was actually an example of what I was talking about. Person A says something hair brained and Person B challenges that opinion. Person A doubles down with no substance, and Person B challenges them again. Then Person A(2) triples down with no substance because they're incapable of anything beyond surface thinking. Person C pisses and moans about conservatives being victims.
Rinse, repeat.

Lol. Wrong. Feel free to check with the mods.
And ok, Ill bite. The fact that you cant grasp the fact that people may think differently than you, and you then lazily insult them for it, suggests that you a) are too slow to realize, or b) to ignorant to care, that people like you are a large part of the reason why someone like Trump gets elected in the first place.
Edit: And yeah, my posting history sure does scream the need for a second account. Totally. As per the above..Lazy? Slow? Ignorant? That attempted hack on the laces seems like it falls in to all three buckets…congrats!!

Then you chose the most awkward way to inject yourself into this conversation.

Hack on the laces? I accused you of having two accounts, and I really have no reason to believe otherwise. If that is such an affront to you, you may wish to explore becoming better tempered against such devastating insults.

Why is this always the default response? Obviously I grasp that other people think and believe in things differently. Disagreeing is the purest form of expression that demonstrates you comprehend that concept. Often to me it seems like projection, because whenever persons like yourself are challenged on their opinions and beliefs they come completely unarmed to defend themselves because they likely never are outside of this forum. When it comes time to put the work in, it becomes easier to be a victim and stamp your feet.
And here's where stronger reading comprehension would serve you. I didn't insult anyone in particular. In fact, if you exercise a little self-reflection, you're the one that called me "lamb", "slow", and "ignorant", just to essentially argue that owning the libs (people like me) is a big reason we have giblet heads like Trump and Smith in power. Now, isn't that the complete embodiment of tribalism and laziness of character? If your personality is so tied to the team you're on and your thirst to see the suffering and loss in those opposite your beliefs then may I suggest you (the grander you) are the real problem?

Ill leave it here….I interjected because you were being a #### to another poster for having the audacity to post something that you obviously have some sort of emotional objection to. You insult him, he tries to hold his opinion and diffuse, and you insult him again.
And then you continued your omnipotent opining, to my surprise frankly, by suggesting that I have two accounts because im…well Im not sure why.
And now youre turning the lazy, slow, ignorant horse in my direction as the #### in the whole discussion?
Ask yourself a question, why are we even having this discussion?
And as a PS, what makes you think that Im not a liberal? My whole argument is dont be a jerk to people that think differently than you. Many centrist voters voted for Trump as a protest vote, at partially, for just that reason.

Don't run away. Show me exactly where I insulted you...or if you want to play that game, Sled.
Quote:

You know exactly why. And I don't think that word means what you think it does.
Quote:

I have no idea what you're trying to say here.
Quote:

Because Sled equated the CBC with Rebel and I disagreed, implying that they were either bias or uninformed (or both) with a statement like that. They responded with fluff and called me a "lamb" (whatever that means), then you felt the need to jump in. Odd you didn't feel the need to address that first insult, but rather continued adding to it.
Quote:

I never claimed you were a supporter of any political party. And again, you need to show me where I was a "jerk" to anyone in this thread because you keep using that as an excuse to act and talk to me this way. And may I say, calling me "slow" and "ignorant" is a funny way to make the bolded argument.
And if someone votes for Trump as a protest against someone they claim was mean to them then they, at best, are not worth taking seriously and, at worst, have a highly questionable character.

Quoted for truth.
It's disrespectful to take any thread off topic. But especially so in a thread that discusses a topic as serious as this one.
In this thread:
1) keep it on topic
2) keep it civil
3) show respect, openness and empathy to fellow posters
