Yeah that's brutal! 22yr old - pretty much a kid - just hanging out having a good time. These are the situations that always make me feel kinda ill.

Condolences to your friend Bruce...

They were talking on the news last night how the machine that killed that young man wasn't safe. Watch the video for more details.

Such a tragic accident.

Absolutely tragic. My heart sank when I heard he had passed. I don't even know him, but what a horrible thing to have happen.

Wow, just found this news over Facebook (I seem to be getting most RIP news over Facebook recently). I knew this guy back in high school, did a big group project with him. Didn't know him terribly well, lost contact after high school. Sincerely nice guy.

RIP

Ugh... I'm in the same program and year as Nathan.
This is the email that we got from school:

Quote:
It is with great sadness that we learned of the death of a student from
the Schulich School of Engineering last Friday. Nathan Wai-Kit Shair was
working on Thursday at a Stampede company event as an operator of a
mechanical bull. It was reported that, at the end of his shift, he was
struck in the head by part of the mechanism. He was taken to hospital
and died the next day with his family at his side.
This tragic death is a shock to all of us who knew and admired Nathan.

During his years as a student in the school, Nathan distinguished
himself to his teachers and among fellow students with his pleasant,
enthusiastic and high-quality performance. He was a valued member of his
student working groups and within the school as a whole. His family
should be proud of his contributions.

We remember him with respect and admiration. He will be missed by us all
at the Schulich School of Engineering, especially those in his program
of software engineering.

We send our profound and heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.
