Bringing a Baby to the Stampede Grandstand Show

The wife and I have some friends coming in from out of town tomorrow for the Stampede. We've got tickets to the chucks and the grandstand show for Friday night. We also have a wee little one that we'll be dragging along with us.

Normally we pack her in her stroller and everything is hunky dory. I'm afraid strollers might not fly at the grandstand though. We were thinking of packing her in her Snuggli carrier thingy. For any of you who have gone to the chucks with small children or have seen others who bring them along, do you have any advice for what to do with them?

I think the snugli carrier thingi might be best. she might get a little hot, but at least you will have her close, Stampede is mayhem

It's supposed to be super hot tomorrow as well, you might want to tak that into consideration seeing as the stands face directly east. If you're not in the infield, there's not a lot of shade.

I've been down there 3 nights so far, and i've seen drunks nearly fall on strollers on two seperate occasions. I'd wear one of those vest/carrying things.

I was actually thinking how frightning it must be for a child to be lost at the stampede grounds... that would be mortifying

The show is very loud, particularly the fireworks. I would consider ear protection of some sort. I would take both and park the stroller during the show.

Get a babysitter and don't expose your child to the heat and noise.

It might be warm during the day, but by the end of that grandstand show, it can be cool, and windy if high up too. Snugly be nice for this time of day, too hot for earlier on.

The toddler can also be an unwanted distraction to people sitting around you during the grandstand show if he/she is crying and causing a fuss.

Our kid's generally pretty good in public. My opinion on the subject has changed since having children, but it could be argued that people smoking (grandstand's probably smoke-free now), swearing or just generally being obnoxious and drunk are equally unwanted distractions at the Calgary Stampede. Two wrongs don't make a right, I know...

My only concern was that I thought it was unfair to the toddler to expect him/her to be still and quiet throughout the Grandstand show.

They do it because they know how much it pisses me off. I guarantee it.
