I just found some articles where Cassidy says they will be resting guys in the last two games so that's great. They are still vile though.

MIN loses in reg, the Flames get 4 pts: 9% chance

STL loses in reg, Flames get 3 pts: 12% chance

STL loses in OT, Flames get 4 pts: 2%

STL wins in OT, Flames get 2 regulation wins: 2%

By my unofficial calculations, they have a 25% chance (though these numbers do not factor quality of competition, which, frankly, is too difficult to quantify when teams have different motivations at the end of the year)

I'm proud of this 24/25 team and all they've accomplished up until now. As a fan, exciting and meaningful hockey to watch in April is unexpected, awesome, and key for developing these young players. GFG! Also, Go Ducks and....Hockey Club.

They already know what they have to do.

The only thing knowing the other results would change is put them in a position where they might as well mail the third period in.

NHL lucked out with the scheduling for sure. All 3 teams playing tonight all an hour apart. Sets it all up for peak drama!

No, they don’t know exactly what they need until the other games are finished.

If STL wins in OT, Calgary then knows they need to win in regulation and would pull the goalie if in a tied game. If STL loses in OT, CGY win wouldn’t have to be in regulation. If STL loses in regulation, CGY could actually lose in OT and still get thru on Thursday with a win.

Having the other games end before the third period gives the Flames an advantage they wouldn’t have had if they started before the STL game.

They wouldn't pull the goalie to go for a regulation win if the Blues went to overtime an hour earlier.

Just win. In regulation and may Jobu curse the sticks of the ni' .
Everyone in the crowd should be chanting NI ! All 19 thousand shall chant Ni!

No NI shots shall pass the Wolf!! And no one shall be bringing the Ni any shrubbery.

Lomberg shall sleigh the Ni and have a mean steak and mile wide and play like a wee ferocious beast.

We shall be victorious in our quest for the holy W .

 Ni !

He said the Flames knowing what they need to do to win. Score more goals than the other team.

Even assuming the intent of the post was the Flames knowing HOW they need to win, there's only two scenarios that need to be considered, and that's something just the coaching staff will need to be aware of to make the right judgement call near the end of the game (pulling Wolf in a tie game). The players don't need to know anything.

There isn't a scenario where the players themselves will choose to go to OT over winning in regulation.

Imbalanced NHL scheduling actually makes it a bit hard to compare conference to conference and division to division in seasons where the three worst teams in the league (by a pretty fair margin) all play in the Western conference.

It's still super annoying that the Flames will have more points than 2 eastern playoff teams and probably will miss, but at least some of that is because the imbalanced schedule.
