Was any one concerned about John? No, because he was an elite talent. Parekh is also that.
The down side is maybe you lose off of a mistake or two, and the player gains valuable experience to take with him over the summer. How terrible!
Jesus it's not life or death. And prospects aren't "broken" this way. Not ones with world class ability.

Gaudreau (and Bill Arnold) played the last game of the season and the Flames were already out of the POs.

That's weird, you didn't thank his post. Guess you're wrong as usual.

Uh, 11 posters thanked it...so far. Perhaps its not the kids and you are in fact the one who is out of touch with reality.
Complaining that ZP isnt playing tonight is beyond ridiculous

If anyone actually started with saying they'd like to see him in a practice or two first then sure, that I can understand. But questioning is physically and mental preparation going in and saying it would be "irresponsible" to play him is pure nonsesne.

So you just skipped over the 150 posts or so saying ' he hasn't even had a practice yet'?
I'm pretty sure you quoted me saying it at one point

To me it's just logic.
Makar is generational and an unfair comparison.
Most 19 year old defensemen don't get near the league. They'll be out with three games to go and he can still get his feet wet.
And to be more specific ... if they think he can boost the third pairing, or if they want to dress 7 D and try him on the powerplay. My biggest push back was to the drop Hanley from the top four movement.

Are Makar and Parekh much different players at 19 years old?

Makar didnt even play in the NHL at 19 he was 20. Despite the debate Zayne will play in the NHL at a YOUNGER age than Makar

The post I responded to you only mentioned Makar.
Felt it appropriate to answer what you posted.

Without looking, I would assume Makar got a practice in before jumping into the playoffs. Even if he didn't, he was a little older, and even more importantly, Makar was playing a more mature game in the NCAA.
Why not give Parekh a practice or two first? You don't want him going out there, making a terrible play because he isn't used to the speed/systems/teammates, getting scored on because of it and the Flames losing the game. I would imagine the players would be upset at Huska over that too.
Get him some reps in practice. Have him sit upstairs next to someone who can explain some of the plays and where Parekh should be. Then stick him in on the third pair and adjust as his play dictates. I really don't understand the impatience here. I mean, I can't wait to see Parekh (and Suniev - and some others!) out there to wind-down the season, but I also think there is a time and a place for it. Would just feel like rushing a kid for no reason.

I still have April 13 circled as his first game, whether or not the flames are still fighting for a playoff spot. Sharks at home after practicing with the team for a week. That seems right to me
I'd guess hed be on the third pairing and second PP unit.

I don’t think I’ve actually heard it announced yet… has Parekh joined the team yet or is he still in Ontario? I know Friedman said Parekh was going to have him join the team but I have not actually heard if he’s with the team yet.

I sure hope Parekh plays tonight. By himself.
Rest everyone else up for the Friday head to head.

I haven't covered the whole thread to see if this has been mentioned, but before some of you were born, there was this guy named Jarome that made his debut with the Flames in the playoffs after his D+1season and he fared pretty well in his career. Not bad for an 11th overall pick.
Remember all these nannies afaid that letting Dustin Wolf play in the NHL?
So many here so afraid to try a bold move and keeping the kid gloves on way too long. It is amazing at how many idiotic narratives have been created on this board and how hard it is for those narratives to die.

Someone tweeted on Sunday that he was on his way to Calgary. I have no idea if that person has any credibility and if he does, if Parekh was just coming to town to get settled or if he was joining the team on the trip?
I haven't seen anything to indicate he practiced today or that he's even with the team in San Jose.

I wonder if they need to get a u.s work visa for him. Are the American teams in the OHL?

Whenever it does happen, it will be so exciting to have someone making dynamic plays on defence. It is so, so rare for that to happen this season (or pretty much any season) for the flames. No one makes skilled plays on the blueline. Even tape-to-tape passes are rare. I’m not blaming the players themselves. It’s a skill that is very coveted in the NHL and few defencemen have it.
It’s especially tough in a flames system that puts puck back to the defence a lot.
