Has 1 more year on his contract. And some of us are hoping even after that contract is done, if he's still producing, that he maybe does 1-year deals after...

It happened.

Former Oiler no longer has the record. Yay.

Funny NBC News story suggesting Ovi could possibly succeed Putin - “checks many of the boxes”, and being beloved in Russia.

I could see Ovie leaving after the season is over and going to the KHL to finish his career.

I bet he’ll finish out his contract. Just out of loyalty to the owner.

He is definitely the GOAT GOAL SCORER

No debate

I kind of hope he has another high score my year next year and is close enough to 1000 that he decides to hang around the NHL to get the goal scoring record to 1000Gs

How is there no debate that he's the goat when he's not all time point leader?

I have no problem acknowledging Ovechkin as the greatest regular season NHL goal scorer of all time and simultaneously leaving him off a top 10 of greatest all time players.

Others mileage may vary.

IMO Crosby is the GOAT. For a veritable cornucopia of reasons.

But Ovechkin is easily the greatest pure goal scorer of all time.

These are different things.

People always talk about 'best on best' Tournaments, but I'd love to see a game where Crosby is centering a line with Ovechkin on his wing...it'd be like the NHL equivalent of the Harlem Globetrotters.

Take the best of the best and put them together. The only problem being...whoever is left? They're going to be the Washington Generals.

"He's using a ladder for Gods' sake!"

It's highly debatable that Ovi isn't the GOAT of his generation.

Best goal scorer ever, yes.

Best on the power play ever, yes.

Best player? I think Sid has a lock on that.

Ditto. Different discussions entirely.

I think Sid is probably the greatest hockey player of all time.

Ovi though? Pure goal scorer? No contest.

Ovi is the best goal scorer of all time, he has been consistent from age 20 to 39 now.

He has also scored in some low scoring eras of hockey on goalies who like the Michelin man.

Crosby is the best overall player.

While Greztky was scoring on naked goalies in the 80's

I wonder what the beautiful gift was that Janet brought for Ovi's wife? Bet365 coupons?

I wish Pavel Bure had knees. The fact he two 60 goal seasons and two more seasons of 59 and 58 goals is insanity, the latter two happening in the dead puck early 2000s.

In 2000-2001 Pavel Bure scored 58 goals and 92 points to lead the Panthers in scoring. In second place with the Panther was Victor Kozlov with 14 goals and 37 points. Just a crazy gap between the leading scoring and the next guy. A 45 goal gap between your top guy and the next best is unheard of.

Heck with that. If I'm Ovechkin, I'm holding out for a regular stick and a gold Rolls.

There is a rumor going around that he will return to Russia after his contract ends.
