Default Knights 3 Flames 2 (OT)

Knights 3 Flames 2 (OT)

- Dustin Wolf was the best player on the ice
- Coronato with another snipe
- Flames come from behind to secure a point
- Flukey own goal to lose the game

It was the 4th line that dragged the Flames into the game by the middle of the second period. Huska noticed that and gave them lots of ice time up until then.

It's a huge point thanks to Wolf.

Hard to complain about the flukey goal when Calagry was lucky to be in OT to begin with.

I just hope the Minny game next Friday will be meaningful, the Dome will be rockin'.

Points update ...

Can no longer get a top ten pick.

Need to go 5-0-1 to catch Minnesota at their current pace.

Picks 11-14 essentially eliminated. Looking like pick 16 or 17.

Florida gap down to just 5 draft positions.

17 is very unlikely. If we make the playoffs, we almost certainly stay ahead of MTL and pick 18. In fact, if we make the playoffs, we probably have a better chance of passing OTT or NJD than we do of being passed by MTL (because we'll have to go on a heater to make it).

Or we miss and finish 16 in the standings, or 15 if VAN or UTA pass us.

So 16, 15 or 18. But probably not 17.

Most important thing to me is the elimination of 11-14.

Takes a lot of sting out of the season.

And agreed ... Minny, Ott and Jersey are all at the same win percentage. Make the playoffs and you likely pass all three.

Yes, 11-12 was the nightmare scenario - almost, but not quite bad enough to keep the pick.

Fighting until the last game of the year to potentially make the playoffs, isn't even close to being the nightmare scenario - it's a great season where several young players have stepped up, and Kadri and Huberdeau elevated their value immensely.

Also, there is a good chance now that the FLA pick will be in the 20-22 range. The nightmare scenario was give up the 11 or 12 pick and keep the 29-32 pick. But giving up the 15-16 pick and keeping the 20-22 pick is no biggie at all. Small price to pay for such a great season, and the emergence of a potential star in Wolf.

Plus, NJD is looking like a 19-21 pick, which would also be a bonus.

Also this years draft is below average so I would rather be losing the higher pick this year than say next year

just to add the one time (probably not really the only one time) they dropped the puck without 5 minutes of adjustments it was a pretty horrible drop (in our favour)

Vegas is- of course- the far better/deeper team on merit at this stage in their life cycle, with that they seem to get those extras- face off respect, a few icings where the d made no real attempt to get the puck (the pretend I'm skating as best I can trick- only remember one of these actually being waived)

we did come out ok on the penalty ledger last night but less so with the lines I felt

17 is the least likely of all. Do you mean 16 or 18?

To get 17 the Flames need to pass the Wild AND finish behind the Canadiens.

Was that as complete a games as the Flames have played all year? I really thought they were solid top to bottom.

I haven't been able to watch as many Flames games as I normally would, but I was very impressed last night.

That wasn't even close to a complete game at all lol. Wolf stole them a point.

Flames best and most complete game recently that I can recall was versus the Rangers.
