They’re waiting on Aydar’s Komrade, Arsenii…. so they can take their rookie laps together. Worked out well for Wolfie and Coronato.

Lomberg, Rooney and Pospisal have combined four goals in 2025; Joel Farabee has 5 points in 23 games since joining the team, Sharangovich has two goals in the last two months. This team is starved for offence and could easily fit a rookie into the lineup to give him a try. Other teams do it, Flames always find excuses not to. Teams needs goals, this kid could score some, let's not overthink this and find reasons not to.

We are burning a year for what ? It’s not going to hurt his development to play a few games. This team isn’t making the playoffs and even if they want to keep pace they need a spark.

I agree with the overarching point but I'd rather give that opportunity to guys like Kerins and Stromgren.

Allowing the player to burn a year helps to get them signed

Not sure why the star probability is that low but I would have it at higher than 1% given the tools and frame this kid has.
Meh Bader is a bonehead, everything is based off of numbers with him

Seems fair, particularly with Kerins stepping up for the Wranglers, but I think the main squad knows and has communicated to Kerins that he has a potential future with the team if he finds another gear. That work needs to be done in the offseason so it is unlikely he gets any more looks this year.

Suniev getting a game would be largely ceremonial, but if he shows something that may get him a few games and a bit more attention when camp opens in the fall. Being an unknown commodity can open a door of opportunity, but as guys like Kerins and Stromgren know that door can close quickly if you don’t make an immediate impact. As a member of Conroy’s first draft class Suniev has a foot in the door, but that grace won’t extend past this season.

Ok so it won’t hurt us to play him and see what he has and needs to work on. He’s a big guy he can play.

We have plenty of guys who can sit.

The team needs skill let’s see what we have for the few games remaining. We are paying him

Matt Coronato only got into one game after he signed.

Suniev will practice with the team to start with.

Like Coronato, he’ll find the faster pace challenging.

What a way for Paulie Walnuts to out himself as Murray Edwards.

I don't see a lot of teams playing 3rd round picks who just signed in meaningful games...usually its high end prospects like 1st rounders

No- I’ll disagree with you here. Suniev wasn’t surrounded by multiple first round picks playing at Boston College.

If he did- his numbers would mirror those of Perreault or better AND Bader’s model would look better.

3rd round picks don’t really have this kind of production at the NCAA level playing in their D+2. He’s putting up 1st round pick level production.

I'm not sure what the hurry is to put him in the lineup, aside from you guys being excited about the prospect.

I would agree with you if he was playing with the Wranglers, that actually try to emulate the way the Flames play. However, I don't mind the team taking a week or so to let him get used to the pace, and the systems. I mean wouldn't we be setting him up for failure if he's just running around all game a step behind the play.

Finally, whose spot does he take? Klapka, Lomberg, and Sharangovich are probably the 3 candidates to come out.

Looks like Zac Rinaldo wore it for his 23 games with the Flames... sorry, 28, he played 5 playoff games too.
How did I forget Zac Ronaldo played for the Flames? Man Alive! Inexcusable

They have a 1/7 chance of making it - long odds at this point in the season.

I mean I hope you are right...its not really a fair critisism though when compared to other teams playing blue chippers.

Like someone else said if Zayne was eliminated he would get a look.

The hurry to put Suniev in the lineup is because this team is on life support and they have had trouble scoring all season. Suniev is a finisher and a good one at that, kid can snipe. What’s the hurt to putting him in the lineup? He doesn’t score and we still score one or two against Anaheim? I’m okay with taking the chance that he can finish on a scoring chance

Coronato is a pretty decent goal scorer, right? He only had 3G in his first 35GP in his first 2 seasons.

Here are the first 1-2 seasons of recent Flames forward prospects since 2018-19:
Pelletier 4G in 37GP.

Zary 14G in 63GP. That's the best case scenario.

Pospisil 8G in 63GP.

Honzek 0G in 5GP.

Klapka 4G in 29GP.

Kerins 0G in 5GP.

Duehr 7G in 28GP.

Ruzicka 5G in 31GP.

Schwindt 0G in 7GP.

Phillips 1G in 30GP.

Dube 1G in 25GP.

Mangiapane 8G in 54GP.

Hathaway 1G in 40GP.

My point is that it's highly unlikely that Suniev goes on a scoring tear right out of the gate.
