Good thing she had fast reflexes and manage to lock the front door fast, but as she did that, the crazy lady went for the backdoor. She reached back fast and locked the back door as well. She started yelling for me to drive, so I sped off. I wasn't scared or anything, but I was in complete confusion at that point.
We later determined that she might be a hooker. Though I was trying to convince her it was a ghost lol.

Actually the very restaurant that Firefly recommended is claimed to be Haunted by a man and his little daughter. I saw this on that Canadian Ghost Story show on the discovery Channel.

I enjoyed Rouge.
Centinni's was excellent as well.
Saltlik has been good but not great.
All IMHO.

Wow!! So many recommendations. You just made my job easier and harder at the same time. I have always wanted to try most of those places. Good to hear some of you guys like them. I better reserve something quick.

Go to the revolving restraunt on the Calgary Tower, yes it is cheesy but it's also pretty decent. Especially on a nice night.

I'm going to guess the revolving restaurant will be super busy this week.

Two of the best places in the City are at the Hotel Arts.
I recommend the Raw Bar, or if you want more formal, try St. Germain for fine French cuisine next door.

Experience innovative cuisine in one of Calgary's most cosmopolitan settings at Raw Bar at Hotel Arts. Award-winning Executive Chef Duncan Ly and his team of trailbreaking chefs look forward to showcasing their Pacific-rim influenced menu. Start your culinary journey with some signature appetizers like Tuna Tataki or the Crab and Mango Rolls before exploring a rich array of entrees infused with a myriad of tantalizing flavours. Witness first-hand why the National Post named Raw Bar one of Alberta's Ten Best Restaurants.

Welcome to SAINT GERMAIN...newly appointed as one of Canada’s top 10 new restaurants by enRoute magazine.

Take a stroll along the river starting at the Zoo and going towards downtown and tell me that you don't run into a bunch of tents and lean-to's in the trees. Obviously there won't be any shantys right near the Rouge, but you are deluded if you think the area is not infested with drug related issues.
You can completely avoid the Fish Creek Station by driving to The Ranche via Bow Bottom if the area makes you nervous.

I'd second that. My honeymoon suite was at Hotel Arts. We stayed there for a few days before taking off elsewhere. It was very nice and reasonable priced. They actually do a nice romance package.

I make that walk/run nearly every day, and I can tell you that Inglewood is completely free of that stuff. You'll see everything you're talking about on the other side of the Elbow in the East Village.
A lot of those guys make a daily pilgrimmage to the bottle depot in Inglewood near the Hose'n'Hound, but they go right back across the Elbow to Fort Calgary and area.
Not to derail the thread, but I have to defend my neighborhood!

That's fine, but I am talking about what I have personally experienced in the exact same area. Not only that, but I have a co-worker who frequently does river clean-ups in his spare time and he comes across that sort of thing all the time so I am not sure why you haven't seen it.
Do you happen to run down riverfront ave on your way in? Do you not see any homeless people on the way into downtown either? Or is it just a bunch of classy looking men in top hats with their women adorned in furs getting out of expensive cars at the posh and well kept Cecil Hotel?

Well the pathway system goes right down into Fish Creek, so really....
I often stroll by the zoo on my way from Inglewood to Bridgeland LRT station and the only thing I see is the little storage thing the Zoo put in. However, that's not really Inglewood either, as Inglewood is on the south side of the river. Everything you've mentioned is north of the river or west of Inglewood.

Abruzzo's Italian Restaruant.. My parents are addicted to it, and I've always had top notch food and service.
It's on 4th Ave and 8th Street SW

Hey it would probably help if you could narrow down her favorite food... e.g. maybe she likes Sushi and none of these apply...

Oceana is still around - they have moved to a fancier location:
101 7 Street SW - (403) 245-8787
I love that restaurant as well!

Caesar's was always my favourite.
Slightly off topic, but is Stromboli's still in Kensington? I loved that place back in the day.

I'm sorry to hear Stomboli's is gone, had a lot of fun evenings in there.
