I think your links are mistaking a deterministic approach with a non-deterministic one and calling one art. The mere fact those papers exist is demonstration of the scientific method.

Two quibbles that piss me off.
1. When I accidentally fat thumb the microphone icont on google search on my browser on the iphone and it jumps to the app store to download to the google app in the app store. If I go back it just goes back to the app store. Loops and have to force close the browser at this point. I do this a lot. I hate accidentally touching something and it immediately goes to the app store. Can I stop this crap. I don't want to stop the app store from existing, just that action it does.
2. IT departments went from warning and reminding when they will force re-boots to just doing it randomly. No warning just all your crap is gone. It takes a long time to get everything back open. Save "recovered" excel sheets and other documents, figure out if something is missing, all the APPS (10 of them) open. All the software are not nice and tidy like they imagine, get defaults back going. Like fata off.

First is Apple being Apple.
Most of that second one can be pinned on Microsoft. Sure, IT departments can change that, but then it's a security risk, so most places go with the defaults to avoid liability.

The old say security and it can't be questioned technique. Its like the old "if it saves just one childs life then its worth it" defence of any policy change.

It's more like "I am not going to risk getting fired by not following Microsoft Best Practices if it has zero negative impact on my life."

But at least IT could give us a heads up that your computer is going to be rebooted. Nothing like working all evening from home and leaving your stuff open so it's there and ready to continue in the morning only to find it's all gone when you get in and you get to spend the first 30 minutes of the day getting it all set up again.

I forget I've eaten and then brag about it.
"Man, I haven't eaten all day. I should be famished but I'm not even that hungry. Weird."
"uh, you had pancakes for breakfast"
"Oh right, but that's all I've had all day."
"Yeah, except for the bowl of chilli at lunch.

Bullcrap. The revenue generating parts just want that guy out of the room soon as they can so agree to it. Whatever, we will live with it, beat it.

I use a handheld vacuum to clean off the counter if it requires more than a quick swipe.

Oh look at this! He stands for No Coal mines where he lives but uses disposable coffee filters!
Is this really the person we want representing 'No Coal mines?' Plus, I have it on good authority that he used to even be a Lawyer!!
Dig baby Dig!!

WRGMG is ANOTHER long-term construction project on 9th Ave by the new substation, now featuring traffic down to only one lane and backed all the way up to Crowchild Trail in the morning. Sigh.

Are you serious? I don't even take 9th anymore because just when you think its good it comes back. One lane?
For city projects I can stomach lane closures somewhat but closing them should be absolutely punitive in a lot of private cases so as to make it happen where its absolutely necessary. Lane closed so contractors can park next to the site. Fata you!
A while back that sushi place (Ke Charcoal) on 14th SW near 17th shut down a lane for a block on 14th for a week so they could re-do the concrete up to their business. Closing a lane there is a nightmare especially at rush hour. Should be $20k a day to do that.
There should be a cost to it. Carbon emissions for 5000 cars for 5 minutes plus 5000 people at $50/hour for people time worth for 5 minutes every day. Safety multiplier for people changing lanes in tight quarters.
Another unreasonable gear grinder. Busses ahead of schedule stopping in terrible places for ten minutes snarling traffic. Again on 14th at AM rush hour. Thinking they are just make a drop off. Nope, ten minutes there in the absolute worst place you can stop. Why not stop on Deerfoot if ahead of schedule. Just stop in the left lane.
Wait until you are around a turn and stop. I can rant all day.
