Caps sign Chychrun to eight-year, $72M extension

Well if this is the going rate I assume Andersson will be moved at the draft.

Yeah this would be Andersson's ask I assume? Maybe a little less?
And Andersson just isn't worth $9M IMO

That's a lot of bucks.
If Ras wants this contract I hope another team gives it to him.

Chychrun is better than Ras though, by a healthy margin.

It feels somewhat comparable. They're pretty similar In total games played.
Chychrun has been the more offensively productive player career wise and recently though.
No way I would want to puay Rasmus 9x8. Even 8x8 would be rough.

Chychrun is 26 and better than Rasmus. This contract is a good deal for the Caps. Rasmus isn't signing for $6 mil with the cap rising. Not sure why anyone thinks he will.

He's finally putting back to back seasons together when he's been able to stay healthy and the league kind of soured on him a few years back when the Coyotes were trying to unload him but at his age, this deal is probably worth it. I just don't know how repeatable this season will be for the Caps as I feel things could go sideways fast in a season or two.

I wouldn't give Andersson 8 years.

This contract kicks in when he is 27 for majority for the 1st season.
Andersson would be turning 30.
It's ugly and if that is what Andersson wants someone else can pay that.

It's not my money, and like will Connie even be the GM in 8 years?
You sign him to the max term to try and get the cap number down then figure out the back half of the contract later.
Not saying that's the smart move, but that's basically how all GMs think.

he is also quite a bit younger.
I don't see this as a comparable for Andersson.

Chycrun is scoring at a 23 goal pace. I don't think they're in the same ball park.
I think the Ras ask is the Hanifin deal. I bet he would settle for 8x7. Not a deal the flames should be making.
Conny likely offers him 6 years x 7 mil and they either meet in the middle at 7x7 or the relationship goes south.

The ras ask will be $8 + million at 8 years. He might settle for hanifin cap but that’s not what he’s going to ask. With cap going up he probably will get slightly more at a bare minimum.

Ras, and his agent, will play the Calgary tax card. What would be $8M anywhere else will be $9M here, etc

I hope the Anderson ask will make it easy for Conroy to move him, much like Lindholm.

It's surreal how the moves the Capitals made all worked out.
Chychryn is still pretty young and buying those 26 to 29 years which is half this deal would be the premium years on a guy like him. He's more like Hanifin than Anderson because of the age, but a better goal scorer.
There's no real back nine on this deal as he'd be 33 when it's done. So that's a major difference.
