He said this in french again? He already said he is shifting and increasing the carbon tax on business so that there isn't a consumer facing one. But we all know that the cost will still flow to the consumer though and the consumers will still ultimately pay.

So he's already changed his government's stance on this? So no tax at all now?

Call me crazy but I would suggest trying new ones vs sticking with the ones that have done a terrible job. Maybe that's just me.

Ministers aren’t exactly clear on how to fulfill the incoming Liberal prime minister’s promise of axing the consumer carbon tax.

With a 19% hike coming April 1, Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault said they aren’t quite sure how to pull off Mark Carney’s promise without passing legislation, reports Blacklock’s Reporter.

“We’re looking into different options,” Guilbeault said on Tuesday.

“Do we need to change the legislation? Can we go through the regulatory route? Like, what are the options? I don’t have answers for you.”

When asked if this’ll happen before the next federal election, Guilbeault said they’re looking into it.

“(Carney) said he wanted to get rid of it,” Guilbeault said.

“We are looking into how that could be done and how rapidly.”

Liberal MP Adam van Koeverden insists April Fool’s Day won’t come with a carbon tax hike.

“That won’t go up on April 1,” said van Koeverden, who said it’s up to the environment and finance ministers to nail down the details.

“In short order the consumer carbon tax will be removed from other fuels as well.”

Is this the liberal federal sales pitch? Don't you dare question anything. It's all completely different now with the exact same people. Don't question at all. Don't look at the last ten years of outright corruption, economic stagnation, uncontrolled immigration, a housing crisis, soft on crime and drugs, blocked economic development, etc.

I'm not sure how you can be this unhappy with a cabinet that might be running things for a week. Like sure...it's largely the same group, chosen from the exact same group. But it's also been widely speculated that the writ is dropped within a week. So, really...who cares?

Does PP himself even believe he's the guy for the job? He doesn't even have security clearance to fully grasp the scope of the situation.

Personally I'd rather anybody that's actually up to speed and moderately prepared to do the work. pP has shown absolutely zero in that regard.

Carney is literally the only answer on the ballot who can functionally lead the government going head to head with the U.S

With all the scandals and rats diving off the sinking ship the quality of cabinet minsters has been decreasing over the last couple years, the Liberals are already using the best of what they have. If they win the election they should have some new blood that is qualified to run a portfolio, until then we're stuck with a bunch of the old guard. Doesn't matter that much anyway, despite people saying that we don't vote for a PM that is who holds all the power in the party (especially the Liberals since they didn't adopt the reform act).

That being said at this point they should wait a few months until the election call and hope that things stabilize with the orange goblin down south. I've been calling for an election for a year but right now is a terrible time to shut down government.

Pretty simple, they need to go back and govern as if they have a majority. No way in hell the Cons vote against repealing the Carbon Tax if it's a stand alone bill. I can't see the NDP voting down the government anytime soon, if an election were held today they might lose party status and even Singh's seat is likely to fall.
