What Wolf is doing is easily more impressive.
We've seen seasons like Celebrinis from other young stars. When was the last Wolf caliber season from a goalie?

In the year Mason won he had 10 shutouts, which is crazy for a rookie. Bobby Ryan was the highest scoring player with 57 points in 64 games.
At first when I looked at the points Ryan got, I thought Cellebrini would probably land at the same level of production and that would benefit Wolf as a comparable season. Seeing that he 10 shutouts that year, makes it hard to use that as a comparable. Not as cut and dry as I first thought when thinking what the voters would do.

That Steve Mason season was crazy. It goes to show just how rare not only that season was, but also how rare Wolf's season has been.
based on utilization so far, Wolf should get a minimum of at least 12 more starts. Man is it fun watching this kid hone his craft.

Mason had 10 shutout and still only finished with a 915 save percentage..... wildly inconsistent goalie.

Shutouts are an overrated stat when it comes to talking about handing out awards. I think consistency is much better trait.

Everyone knows my feelings about the Flames but even I would have him as the Calder winner. It's much more impressive IMO what he has done than a forward. Calgary is last in the entire league in goals scored and Wolf has played like a veteran and keeping them in or close to WC2. They would be picking top 10 and probably top 5 with average or worse goaltending. He's been solid. Hutson would be my 2nd vote and Celebrini 3rd.
IMO it's a 2 horse race between Wolf and Hutson.

It's encouraging that I'm starting to see more of a consensus on Wolf for Calder from hockey fans that don't have a Flames bias (like almost all of us here). But then again hockey fans generally have a much better grasp on these things than the writers that actually vote on it.

Not sure if this is against any rules but I figured there may be some interest from CP since Wolf is a stud. I have no affiliation to this company/person other then I myself am sending some stuff in to get signed, and a bigger success likely means more Flames players in the future (selfish thinking).

This company is doing a private autograph session with Dustin Wolf (and Zary and Frost) in a few weeks. Not much time to send stuff in but they have lots of stuff you can pre-order and ~$40/auto is super cheap.

Mason's play (and Nash) dragged that very bad team into their first ever playoff appearance--after 8 years in the NHL.
Lots of noise around that. Hype is a real thing with player awards, which is why Calgary HAS to make the playoffs on a dramatic end of year run where Wolf is shining if he is to win the Calder.

I would not be shocked to see Wolf left off ballots from Montreal sports writers. I think there will be a heavy bias from out east for Hutson who I personally would rank 3rd.

Dreger talking about Hughes for Hart
Friedman talking about Werenski if the jackets get in
Why is no one talking about Wolf the same? 32nd ranked in scoring and he has the team in a playoff spot. Makes no sense that the others are being talked about but not him

One of the most impressive things about Wolf is that he knows the team can't score and he keeps his cool, no bad goals. He doesn't sink the team.
Has he actually let in any bad goals? Or back breaking goals that sink the team.

Well, he won't get votes from Edmonton or Montreal, so the rest of the voters will have to get him over the line. As incredulous as he has been, I doubt he even is a finalist.

Don't think Hughes has a chance, he's missed too much time. Werenski is a great candidate, but how many people outside of Columbus know what he's doing?
He deserves to win the Norris, though.

Flames should have Hutson too, was so obvious at the time to take him but they take freaking Topi Rooni

Could be the said about a bunch of teams right?
I do think, the current regime may have been way more likely to take him given other players they’ve drafted and traded for. Seem way more willing to look past size and focus on skill. Which I like

We can't get upset with misses on drafts. The best team misses a lot.
Flames are a great drafting team, and I am glad that they are finally leaning into their strength - drafting! We just saw an epic draft last season (though I don't like to count chickens before they hatch). Give this organization some draft ammo, and they will be more inclined to take a high risk player in Hutson over a 'safe' Ronni". There will be misses, but there will be hits too!

The Score article has Wolf at top 5 for the Hart. Shows how much he has meant to this team this year.
