As much as I wanted Freeland, she was too closely associated with JT to realistically have a chance.

As for fighting Climate Change, the oil and natural gas industry has been doing much to reduce emissions and is engaged in various initiatives to reduce CO2.
Thanks to the Liberal Government, we have wasted 9 years, and have foregone a fortune in lost LNG sales, while we sat here and watched the US become the largest exporter of LNG on the planet. The Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin is primarily a gas basin, and we have the ability to sell our gas to places like China, so they can replace their coal with gas to reduce CO2. Not only would we be fighting climate change, but we would be making money to support our healthcare system, strengthen our defense system, and survive the tariff war.
With Carney's background re Climate Change, and his close relationship with Trudeau over the years, I don't see him being the person to take advantage of our resources.

Fair post. I also feel that our industries are strong world leaders, and previous governments, including Conservative, have sold Canada short on sustainable and progressive development.
I do disagree about Carney. I think he is currently our best bet and potentially could be an excellent leader for Canada. Time will tell.

I think PP had it in the bag a few months ago. However, with the state of the world - I wonder if we see a Liberal majority as I am not sure PP has the trust of the people.
If a snap election is called, does anyone know how to find a good breakdown of the policies they are proposing?

That effectively eliminates Poilievre's main Carbon Tax Carney talking point (even if it's to come in a different form). Poilievre wanted this to be an election about the carbon tax, and the very thing he campaigned so hard against will be gone by election. Perhaps he should have figured out a different plan in the past 2 months with this whole Trump thing going on.
There were a couple of things that Carney would need to do right away to act on his words to remove ammo from the CPC and he's doing it.
Meanwhile Poilievre and the CPC have just released a bunch of new French ads which he posted on his twitter account specifically targeting Carney-Trudeau in how they made Canada and Quebec weaker against Trump. It appears that CPC's new strategy is to go after the Quebec vote thinking Carney's poor French abilities will allow movement in the polls there.
I think it's outright desperation and their failure to pivot properly when it mattered most when they running on cruise control is a colossal mistake.

I haven't seen PPs face in a CPC ad for weeks. It's all been Carney attack ads. He hadn't even been voted in yet.

Those “carbon tax Carney” ads are peak cringe, and offer nothing whatsoever in regards to what the Conservatives would actually do to help Canadians. Just so incredibly dumb.

I'm just thrilled the 'Anyone but Trudeau' crowd now has a good option without voting for the far-right. Hopefully it forces people to look at what PP is actually about and realize they don't like it

Building Northern Gateway and/or Energy East would have been done in direct spite of the opposition of First Nations communities.

Do not try to frame LNG exports as some kind of win for climate. It very much is not.

The arguments that have merit are the economic ones, and reducing our reliance on the US as a trading partner. So you'll have to use those ones to sell us on it.

I did like Carney's summary of the kind of person Poilievre is: "A lifelong politician who worships at the altar of the free market despite never having made a payroll himself."
I suspect they'll be hitting him hard on that.

The Bow Valley CPC are choosing a new candidate and all of their flyers focus on “Axe the tax”. I guess all they have left now is DEI and wokeness.

Did Carney say this in french? I thought he's just shifting the carbon tax to push industries to carry the extra load and pass the costs down to consumers so they can't see it directly (nothing consumer facing). And then also tariffing consumer purchases coming into Canada that don't meet his carbon structure and prices. Which I assume like any tariff would increasing prices.

I can assure you PP does not have the trust of the people. There just had to be a legitimate, Liberal alternative to Justin Trudeau. There officially is now. Liberal advertising hasn't begun. Wait until the PP Convoy ads or the PP with the Diagolon ads or the Security Clearance ads or . . .
PP is done.
