If they trade Andersson they will need a guy to plug in and shelter prospects. No idea what it would cost but it’s not outlandish

Andersson pack your bags.

He's american so very likely the Flames are on his list. Hard to imagine he would waive if he's happy in Boston.

Pure speculation but its conceivable the Flames have an inside track on his thinking as he was considered one of the pieces last year when Hanifin was being shopped and Boston was (allegedly) interested.

We think about RH vs LH too much. Although of some importance in the immediate moment, these needs are always changing. Just get the best players.

I get the thinking. Move Weegar back to LD where he’s more effective, while acquiring some insurance (and leverage) for negotiations with Andersson. And exploit cap space to take on an overpaid player at what would likely be a modest cost on assets.

My personal opinion is the Flames should trade Andersson and not add any more RHD. The system already has two RHS waiting in the wings. Pachal and Weegar are flexible enough to move to either side of a pairing. What the Flames really need are more Bahl type D men who can shelter the defensive end a bit for the likes of BRZ or Parekh.

Do I get the hedging of bets and kicking tires on the likes of Jones or Carlo? You betcha I do. Just don't necessarily agree with it as I want them to keep those spots open for what's coming.

But, I do trust Conroy and his plan. It'll be fun to watch his next set of moves to see where he's taking this ship.

And I do think LHS/RHS pairing are important. But you can get away with having 2 of your 3 pairings built that way. Doesn't have to be all 3 pairings of lefty/righties. But it should be 2/3rds at minimum.

Flames coming out of three anemic affairs with a hunger for more D.

I do like Carlo .... as a replacement if you're shipping out Ras for help up front.

I don't think he's been more effective on LD at all this season.

I've thought he's struggled on his off hand more this year in the defensive zone and in transition.

There are a lot of "classic Flames" comments like it actually happened.

Classic Dino, not realizing that people are allowed to have different opinions on the team.

We get it, you believe the Flames can do no wrong. Not everyone feels that way.

Getting more shut down players means that the team will let those guys focus on defence and let the offence loosen up more....right?....right?

I know its just rumors and you don't have feelings until it happens but I'd rather the Flames be in rumors that make sense and are good than ones that don't make sense and seem pointless.

Weegar can play both sides so adding a top 4 that is not a rental makes sense to me

Carlo is a solid defenseman. This would be a good move by Calgary.
