I was jealous of any car in Grade 12. Any sh*tbox was better than riding 2 buses and a train.

Great list. Small correction: It's XR4Ti.

Not mine but I had the same; this was my first time buying a car I wanted as a kid.
In hindsight I should have kept the 1976 Mustang.

I hear ya, I wasn't driving until grade 12. On the plus side, being a skinny, short'ish man having to battle through teenage elbowing/pushing and other shenanigans to get my grade 10-11 butt on the train at Heritage Station after school really prepared me for daily downtown rush hour train riding as an adult.

the 90s had some of the worst looking cars of all time. Chevy Lumina is my fave example. The van version.
Looks like the Homer IRL

As a ricer teenager in the 90's, my favourites that I dreamed of owning (semi realistic, and not a supercar) were:
6th gen Toyota Celica (the one with the round headlights)
2nd gen Toyota MR2
Integra Type R
RSX Type S

Similar to my first ride. Bought off my cousin.
Was basically this, but not the 5.0. Little 4 cylinder. Teal is legit tho.

I had a grey 1991 Daytona 5 speed bought when I was 16. That was a fun car as a kid

I'm partial to the Grand National myself. If I won the lottery I'd impulsively go buy a GNX. My Dad had Buicks until the late 80's when those FWD LeSabres had horrid computers that would kill the cars after like 2 years...sadly by 95 or so they had sorted that out and the ones with that e800 V6 still run well today.
The 90s Buick that I'd buy is the 96 Roadmaster with the detuned Corvette engine. I have no need for it...but if I saw one I'd have to explain why I bought it. Lucky the front seat is the size of a couch because I'd probably have to sleep in it for a few weeks.

Mitsubishi GTO. (4 wheel steering baby!)
Mazda RX7 (The final Gen)
Olds Cutlass Supreme Coupe.
Chevy Monte Carlo SS (the one that look full blown NASCAR in all black with red SS stripes on the bottom).
R34
Never cared much for the Supra because at the time I didn't know what the 2JZ was. And everyone I knew in School had early model Supras so it was pretty meh since they were everywhere.

My wife and I had practically identical Sundance/Shadow cars, both ugly blue (one was a two door IIRC). Both were manuals.
Then I "graduated" to a black Sunfire.
Then we had to get a wagon so it was a Taurus, which had a reversible rearmost seat - we thought it was cool but never used.

I owned a Daytona Turbo Z. It was kind of fun at the time but the biodegradable head gaskets they put in the 2.2L turbo meant replacement was almost an annual thing with that car.

I had one of these in the early 90's
4 banger 5 speed.
Would love to find another one to restore.

Another car from this time that was actually really nice was the Chevy Impala SS. based off the police version of the Caprice. Lots of low end tourque.

I know "happy wife, happy life" and all, but going with an automatic, when there is a manual option to be had, is one thing I couldn't compromise on with a "fun" car. Like at that point, I'd just rather not get the car. I'll compromise with color and options and engine, even the model of car itself...but if it's something like being forced to get an automatic Miata, why even bother.
