They just played Canadian style hockey better than Canada did.
Sort of reverse of what happened in Sochi when Canada smothered...well....everyone.
It was close but the Americans were better defensively and really made the Canadians play on the perimeter.
Great game though....really want to see this again in the final.

In the end Binnington was not their issue tonight.
The U.S. played with more structure and is bigger and more physical and the small Canadian forwards hard a hard time breaking them down:
Guys like Reinhart, Marner, Marchand, Jarvis were complete passengers tonight.

Lol the first goal was brutal
Blame who you want...canada had more possesion, shots, chances, HD chances, and lost a one goal game. Not my stats fyi

They should've rotated goalies in their first two games, then committed to the one that showed the most composure.
Going with Binnington twice probably means they're more likely to commit to the known entity than unknown (on this stage).

They actually showed you exactly why they were here tonight.
They were hard matched against the US top line of Eichel and the Tkachuks and absolutely dominated them.
That line was invisible and they had 80%+ expected goals as a line.
Marner, Marchand, Jarvis, and Reinhart were the more invisible forwards tonight.

Cirelli, Hagel, Point played well but they shouldn't be out there down a goal with less than 10 minutes left in the third.
Binnington is not a very good goalie, but he is a battler and a gamer. So at least you know he's not going to crack and is going to give it everything.
If they had Thompson or Blackwood obviously I'd say play them, but they don't. There is no good reason to think Hill will be better than Binnington. So they should stick with him.

I would think some of that was score effects Americans went up 2-1 and just shut Canada down.

This seems........ incorrect.
Unless 10 of those 12 Canadian chances came in the first 10 minutes.

The scoring chances dried up after the second goal because the Americans packed it in. Sure it is nitpicking but in one and done every bad goal matters and Binnington has had several. They wouldn’t need a regulation win vs Finland if he didnt give up a god awful second goal last game.

Larkin with Canadian roots. Another traitor talking about how good it is to put the jersey on for the USA. Have fun with your beloved orange felon leader Dylan.

Chasing the game is different than leading the game. Bad goals change the dynamic of the team play.

This is fun.
I was really skeptical about this tourny and really didn’t care about it going in to it.
I was totally wrong. Amazing hockey and atmosphere around it. The NHL knocked it out of the park with this idea. I hope the All star game is gone forever

Larkin was born and raised in the States. He’s an American. Jake Sanderson on the other hand…

Watching replays, the highlight of my night was seeing that little d***e f*** miller getting his ass beat by parayko . Despicable guy hearing whats coming out of van after his time there. Reminds me of Kesler. Oh, another American.

The shot charts show a lot of red right in the crease area for Canada
Canada had a lot of those jam the puck into the goalies pads from in tight type of chances but I honestly don't think they had a lot of grade A looks from cross ice passes or off the rush.
To me it felt like a lot more of a 50-50 game than the xGF are showing tonight.

Get Makar back. Figure out the lines. Beat the Finns and get the US again.
Have to figure out the US defense if they get them again.
Betting Chucky will be out.

Awesome Tourney so far.
If it’s a US Can final it will be crazy.

My bad. I had seen his dad was a Torontonian but saw he moved to the states before Larkin was born.
