I wasn't, and don't recall that discussion.

But it's clear a lot of internet tough guys lack empathy.

Plus isn't enjoying misery from a rival different than ridiculing someone for showing raw emotion about having to move on from their teammates unexpectedly?

Not sure if posted. And not sure if just shill. But I also thought Conny flying down to get them was a pretty big first class move. Whereas other teams don't seem to do the same unless it's a high profile player.

2mutts is an Edmonton centric pod. So they wouldn't be shilling for their rivals.

Phillips was vastly overrated IMO. When you look at his timeline for development and putting up points, there were a great number of Flames players that shone much earlier. Mangiapane, Dube, Pelletier, etc.

Losing Phillips for nothing was not a mistake - he is not an NHL'er, and I think it is his overall combination of size and lack of skill that make him that way. He just isn't that skilled, and in the NHL, he hasn't really shown much in the way of an ability to generate offence.

Losing Paul Byron was definitely a mistake - one only needs to look at the opening day roster that year to gauge that, as well as the rest of Byron's career. He was a useful player. It was poor asset management. Not a crippling move, but definitely poor asset management all around (especially given that a third was spent on acquiring Bollig, and then putting him on the opening night roster and exposing Byron...

Pelletier had a non-zero chance of getting claimed on waivers, but he did not show what Paul Byron showed at the time of his claim. Byron showed in that last season in Calgary that he was an everyday NHL'er. However, he was also 2 years older than Pelletier was relatively speaking. Either way, it was a better calculated risk by Conroy. It paid off. Calgary helped to resurrect the asset, and then used the asset as part of the package to acquire two superior players. However, out of the bunch, I would say:

 Phillips <<<< Byron < Pelletier

I do believe Pelletier will be the best out of the three, but I also believe that Farabee and Frost will be better than Pelletier. That's a good move, period.

It doesn't mean that I can't lament the fact that one of the kids I was really, really rooting for is now gone and that makes me disappointed. Good players get traded, and you have to give in order to get (usually - unless you are trading with the Canucks!). I know I will keep following Pelletier's career and still root for him (other than when he plays against Calgary). He is an easy guy to cheer for, and I think he is better than a lot of people think he is, but the proof will be in his numbers over time. Calgary won that trade, and hopefully the new acquisitions can really find some traction here and take-off.

Interesting. So the months long delay after the first inquiries was likely the Flames balking at giving up a high second. But when a playoff position became more likely, they circled back. I expect Pelletier’s play in the weeks leading up to the deal made including Farabee possible.

The deal happened over nine hours, maybe Conroy successfully upsold once Briere already had his chequebook out and was in a buying mood?

I suspect it was more likely a 2nd + Kuzmenko

And the other half was Farabee for Pelletier and a 7th

Both Kuzy and Pelts have their visas, but they are stuck in Toronto as their flight was canceled due to weather. They will miss another game

It would be funny when Kuzy finally dressed up to play and after one game, Tort not impress and press boxed him. |

Torts might give him three shifts, and then stapled to the bench for the rest of the game.

Kuzmenko could very well go on a rip for the rest of the season and I hope he does. Would be nice if the trade is good for both teams.

Reports say the Flames and Flyers were talking about Frost since training camp.

I very much doubt they had a deal in principle worked out during training camp, or they simply would have traded Frost for a second back then.
