We need to move away from the US as our sole partner. They simply are not reliable. If you look at their history of the deals and partnerships they make- they are the most flimsy least reliable "partner" on Earth. They renege on deals 24/7. They back stab. They never honour their commitments. They're basically traitorous.

So I don't know why we would continue to be a partner when the USA has violated Canadian / US trade relations twice in the last ten years. We make a deal with Trump- what does that mean anyway?

Say we solve this tariff issue. You can't trust he won't break it again. You can't trust the USA. You can't. So start to diversify and get other friends.

You know who insinuated all the above? Mark Carney, yesterday, in an interview with the BBC. He's exactly right. If the States want to violate this agreement, fine, time to move on. They can go be alone in an increasingly globalized world.

The Americans NEVER honour their word. They NEVER stick to their deals.

I mean, it's his own deal Trump is reneging on - not someone else's. He hailed USMCA as a huge win for America.

Canada does it because it is easy and beneficial. We can easily dump our resources on trucks and trains and get it to American plants in days. It will take years to establish the trade routes to other markets.

Maybe it’s still more cost effective to have Americans pay more for our essential products than negotiating other trade routes. I dunno. But we still should have had something in place yesterday.

There’s no other country / group of people on Earth who scramble all over themselves to talk about why we can’t build things than Canadians.

Canada has become a country of people saying why things can’t work rather than why they can. Spending time on this website is a good example of that.

And again I go back to- if Canadians aren’t willing to do anything different, then we’re gonna get what’s coming. Most entitled people on Earth. We think we can continue to have the highest standard of living in the world and in exchange offer it no value. You either have to make stuff or sell resources. You don’t get to do nothing.
I’m not trying to talk anyone out of building things, but I am telling you that even expansion of that ROW is nigh impossible and you can’t build further west than Burnaby to change the port situation. I’m not saying it to be defeatist, I just know the reality there. I mean I guess you can if you’d like to but it would mean ripping up neighborhoods.

What is possible is Kitimat or Prince Rupert. So if people want to get serious about that conversation there’s no technical or logistical reason why not. There’s a whole host of economics at play but no reason technically.

Have you met China? I don't think this is the easy win you think it is. Citation: past events.

This is just crazy. Trump is so on a path to get clipped this term.

Tinfoil hat time; I almost wonder if that's what Elon and some higher-ups want (with Trump being too arrogant to realize it). He gets clipped, Elon/Vance take over, and they have some BS excuse to do a purge and grab even more power/wealth. Orange Julius isn't gonna make it to 2028 at this rate.
