You know what, Canada should just enact our retaliatory tariffs later tonight regardless of Trump does.
Call his bluff and go right ahead.

Lets legalize the production of fentanyl for export purposes only and just air drop it over big US cities.

I will be zero suprised if they're put in place tomorrow.
But will also be zero suprised if they're not, and he just continues to hold it over Canada's head indefinitely.

No, don’t implement tariffs until Trump does; he could always back down.

To me it's easily predictable. Nothing will happen. He'll say he made a last minute deal that made everything more fair for Americans blah blah blah when really nothing changed but it doesn't matter. A bunch of phony news people all say he got a better deal done to avoid tariffs and therefore HE is the reason costs are even as low as they are. Hey, they could be higher, remember tariffs? Trump stopped them by getting a better deal. And a bunch of people will believe that's what happened.
It's all he f***ing does.

Generic Blonde Conservative Lady confirms tariffs for tomorrow.
https://www.ctvnews.ca/world/trumps-...-says-no-word/
Quote:
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed the news during a briefing with reporters, stating that a Reuters report citing three sources indicating the president would be delaying tariffs until March 1, was “false.”
|
Quote:
“The president will be implementing tomorrow a 25 per cent tariff on Mexico, 25 per cent tariffs on Canada, and a 10 per cent tariff on China for the illegal fentanyl that they have sourced and allowed to distribute into our country which has killed tens of millions of Americans,” she said.
|
Canada has killed tens of millions of Americans. Nice touch blonde lady.

The infuriating thing is that nobody wants this except Trump himself. I’d bet that even the majority of Republicans know that this is an incredibly stupid idea, but of course they’re gonna go through with it no matter who it hurts just because the orange goblin wants to look like a tough guy.

The thought occurred to me that he might put the tariffs in place for like a week or two, then claim that Canada complied with his demands and then remove the tariffs. It would give him the "strongman" victory he wants his followers to witness, while not causing long term economic damage.
But then part of me is starting to really think that he wants to use economic pressure to make Canada completely capitulate and give up our sovereignty. Maybe not a 51st state situation, but more of a puppet state like what Belarus is to Russia.

Oh yeah, there's some sinister underlying motives in all this if you put it all together. The US is going to have a completely different look in 4 years.

We wouldn't be the 51st state OR a puppet state ... we'd be a territory. Essentially Northern Puerto Rico.

I’ve only seen Karoline Leavitt once on tv for 30 seconds and I hate her already.

Looks like Trump's press secretary is full of s***. I don't think she knows anything about what the orange s***stain is actually planning.

I do think he's testing this, which is why is important for Canada to call the bluff, even if there is short term damage, it's a wake up call to not be solely tied to the US trade-wise. But I also think he truly has no idea what the actual trade relationship is and that it is probably already as optimal as it can be for both sides. And that's why nothing will happen. But he will say it did.
And yeah he'll also say he stopped the flow of fentanyl. Again, it doesn't matter if it's true or not. Anyone who still supports this guy has decided the truth doesn't matter so you can't use what will actually happen as a predictor for anything that the guy will say and vice versa. But it's easy to predict what he says happens, that was bad because of not him, and is now good because of him, and enough people will somehow believe him so that it becomes true enough that he avoids consequences for it not being true and then does it really matter if it was true or not at that point?
