Thanks, Royle.
Was Frost the bold move you alluded to earlier this week?

I agree to not trade Frost, but do love the idea of acquiring Cozens and Byram.
If there was a way to keep Frost and still make the deal I would be all over it.

This was the center add that Craig had been looking for, Cozens was higher on the target board but the cost was significantly higher and there was just no fit in terms of what Buffalo wanted from Calgary.

No I don't think so.
I think we could see further additions and a subtraction or two.
What I do know is Craig wants to make this this team successful but wont do it by blowing picks or prospects for the sake of doing so. I do feel like the Flames are in the market for another strong D and with Bahl out, I feel like its more of a priority now.

It would be absolute magic if we could somehow pry Power out of Buffalo.

Any thoughts of potential names that could be of interest?

Wonder what kind of subtraction they would look to do? They need an upgrade on left defence so maybe it would mean including someone like Miromanov and/or Barrie in a trade for a different defenceman.

If the plan is to gun for playoffs this year, the Flames could use a couple more D. I will always remember Sutter getting multiple D in 04 and then I was wondering why we had like 9 NHL calibre D and as the playoffs went on it was like oh- now I get it.

Would you trade Zary (+) for Power? Otherwise we don't have the pieces.

I'm just completely assuming here, but based on Conroy's approach thus far maybe he'll just be trying to recoup a couple picks? No clue what the subtraction would be at this point though.

I really want them to take a look at Solovyov before going out and trading for a D man.

I would not. Zary has been continually improving every year since he turned pro including his 2 years in the NHL. He’s looked great playing centre and is arguably the best puck carrier on the team at this point. He leads the team in scoring chances generated from carrying the puck into the offensive zone. The flames are thin at centre and have just added some depth in Frost. Trading Zary would sabotage that progress.

Obvious for us, for the Sabres, cost controlled young center in return for one not living up to current contract. Need to replace L side D with serviceable Hanley. Picks and Brz to make up the value difference.

I just think Frost has to be in the equation if there are further talks (or I suppose Zary) both from a Buffalo perspective, and ours. I would think they'd like a young center back, and if we somehow landed Cozens without moving a center, all of a sudden, I'd argue we would have 4 second line centers (Naz, Cozens, Frost, Zary).
Anyways, sounds like mostly a moot point for the moment, which isn't a bad thing given the push for the playoffs. Early move, lots of time to gel given the break and more forward depth.
Shore that LHD up and let's go! (Glad I'm working from home today, can listen to all the various pundits breakdown and chat on forums)

I think this move could increase the chances of signing Andersson even if they miss the playoffs. It reaffirms that Conroy has no plan to make this team tank/bottom out and it’s a move that keeps them competitive for the next few years at the very least.
Of course, it will all come down to how much Andersson wants (term and AAV).

Again, this is NOT going to happen, but curious as to your thoughts?
Too much from our end, Cozens too much of a question mark, too much room instability, what is it that has you so down on the proposal?

If we do get off the Cozens train, I wonder if there is still any chance we could get a guy like Byram?
Sharangovich and a D prospect not named Parekh as potential pieces to include to maybe make it work.
Probably a pipedream but I would love to see Byram in a new environment where he could run a top PP. I think Weeger can do it do but Byram has so much untapped offensive potential but has been stuck behind 2 of the best in Makar and Dahlin and been also competing with Toews and Power for even 2ndary duties.
He is from Cranbrook too so I don't think he would hate coming here.
