Earlier in the day, Quebec Premier François Legault said any retaliatory action that involves curtailing energy exports to the U.S. should require the approval of the province or provinces affected.
“Regarding energy, I think it is important that if it affects a province, that this province has to give its consent first,” Legault told reporters, speaking at a caucus retreat in St-Sauveur, Que.
Both premiers also said on Wednesday that they opposed placing dollar-for-dollar tariffs on the U.S.
It’s almost as if there is a little bit of common ground that could be built upon in the face of a massive threat to both our economy and sovereignty. Who could have possibly predicted that?
Spend less time fighting and more time leveraging. Two sides trying to get along almost always get deals done faster than two sides at who are vindictive and at each other’s throats. Forget the past move forward. I’d suggest the same to the eastern provinces as it relates to our leader’s recent stupidity.
Yeah, I know we're a haven for Craft Breweries but wine?
Yep. It's dumb. There is no Alberta wine industry but AGLC wants their cut because freedom or some ####. Where's the ministry of red tape on this? Cause nothing says red tape like extra fees.
We've been allowing wine direct from BC wineries to consumers for years but last year the AGLC decided that was a problem. Now they've 'solved' that and once again allowed BC wineries to ship direct to Albertans.....provided they pay this new fee - which of course, is passed directly to the consumer. So really, it's just another tax on Albertans. And it makes BC wine, which isn't cheap already, even more expensive than alternatives from the US or the rest of the world. Assuming a $20-$30 bottle, that's an extra 10-15% tax to AGLC. Thanks Smith.
Perfect example of the interprovincial trade barriers we should be eliminating - with the threats from Trump, this is the time to do it.

I know the chuckleheads laugh at the 'we're barely a real country' but we're taxing intra-provincial trade.
Thats insane. We need to start working together and pulling as a team. This is getting beyond ridiculous.

It’s called the federal system. The same reason it exists is the same reason Alberta owns its natural resources.
How many people complaining want to move to a unitary system? I would. Some would. But considering the bellyaching over the NEP even to this day, I doubt most would.

Remember when the Alberta government stopped imports of BC wine altogether because they were in an argument with the BC government? Good times.
Well to be fair the Dutch are more famous for windpumps which used wind to pump water to help reclaim land vs windmills which use the wind to grind grain.
Yes I recently watched a video about the engineering of the subject
