The Flames do seem pretty insistent on playing Sharangovich at C lately...
Even with his struggles he is still coming off a 31-goal, 59-point season, still has a better PPG than Pospisil, and can play PK

Hope Cozens thrives with the pressure, because there will be a lot put on him if the Flames bring him in to be that center they're missing! Organization won't do that, but being a top 10 pick with the contract he has and the Flames lacking anyone with that pedigree, it'll be there immediately.

I'd want a little something extra with cozens for a 1st+pospisil+Poirier or similar package. Perhaps a 3rd? It just doesn't feel balanced enough to me.
Not sure if 1st+Pospisil+Brzutewicz is enough for Cozens + Byram but it doesn't feel like it would be. I really feel like Byram would be awesome here, though.

Ryan Mcleod is on pace for 20g/45pts, has been good two-ways and is really strong in the dot. Maybe they think there's more there.
Then with Krebs, Kulich and Helenius, maybe they think they have someone better for the role whose close.

It doesn't bode well to see him faltering under increased pressure.
2 years ago he scored 31 goals (new contract, yay!).
Last year he only scored 18 goals (oops).
This year he is on pace for 17-18 goals and is now -17 half way through the season (the last two years he was -3 and -4).
A lot of the trade suggestions seem to be based on his draft pedigree and what he did 2 years ago as opposed to what he is doing since his $7M contract kicked in.

Byram + Cozens would be amazing.
But I think it would have to be something like 1st+Pospisil+Rasmus.
And Rasmus probably has them on NTL

Can we trade for McLeod instead. He is also super fast. We need a guy who can win faceoffs.

The downside to trading for Cozens is that he doesn't seem to be very productive and also costs a lot of money. But he is big, plays center and has a higher scoring season under his belt. It feels a bit like Kevin Hayes 2.0.

I’ve been pushing the Cozens narrative since Monny was healthy as he’s always felt like a guy who can flourish away from that dumpster fire. He was dominant on team Canada at the world championships and he hasn’t been on a winning team since then. Would be very excited to land him, depending on cost of course

RHS Natural center that's 6'3 200 + lbs and 23 years oldis the framework for the exact thing Conroy's been seeking. If he really wants it, he will make the move.
I like that the rumors from every media angle has them keeping tabs on Cozens.
These positional players are so hard to come by if you're not drafting top ten. The Flames won't be and they have a good stable of assets to make something work without sacrificing the teams depth. Flames need a RHS center and I think the management team and coaching are a good fit to extract a better 200 ft game from the kid.

What's the scouting reporting on Maxim Shabanov?
24 year old RW in the KHL thinking about signing in the NHL next year.
Feels like someone we should be going after.

HockeyDB says: Height 5.08 -- Weight 156 [173 cm/71 kg]
I am guessing that hasn't been updated in a long time or something if he is considering a move to the NHL.

Not too Shabanov would be a fun pun to use every time he scored or made a nice play.

I was about to make my usual snarky remark about left-shot wingers when I noticed that EP has him listed as a C/RW. So... if he's a center, then I'm somewhat more interested.

Fair. I think McLeod is more of a #3C but maybe Buffalo is bullish

The ultimate swap would be Cozens for Kadri but no chance of that happening
