It was brought up by the play-by-play guys on the broadcast tonight (another great one by Amazon)… I really think there’s been a huge improvement in development by having the farm team in Calgary. Seems like no coincidence that young guys getting called up seem to fit in seamlessly the past few years.

That 5 minute penalty was a real tester after they scored early. Could easily have been a different game if they get another, but that was a very clutch shorty and the Flames tightened up the PK a lot after the goal. PKs efficiency should be based on minutes assessed. The Flames won’t get credit for any kill there.

Yeah when he got double teamed right before his 2nd assist, thought for sure he would lose the puck or dump it, but he made a smart play.

Too bad Pelts couldn't get the third one tonight. When he got sent down he took full accountability for it. Went down, worked hard and earned a call back up. Lots of first round picks wouldn't have handled it that way. Especially with pretty much losing all of last year to injury. Nice to see Pelletier getting rewarded for this and hopefully more nights likely this to come.

We would be sending Wolf to the all star game if there was one this year

That's exactly what Huska's doing now. He was asked about recently during questions and he confirmed they may look at moving away from strict 50/50 split. Tonight was also Wolf's 4th straight start.

Coronato's goal was great. He is becoming top 2 line winger for sure. Cammallery type offence plus great 3 zone player.

I am a big Matt Cammalleri fan.

Just as I was one of his former clone, Mike Cammalleri.

Wolf has gotten the start in 9 out of the last 12 games. With 40 games remaining (Vladar will start tomorrow against St. Louis) and 4 more back to backs, it's realistic to expect Wolf to start 25-30 of the remaining games. That would put him right in the range of 47-52 for the season.

What stats would Wolf need to win the Calder? 30+ wins and a save % around .915 and .920 should get him close. If the Flames make the playoffs it should be a no brainer in my opinion but the media campaign is already in full force in Montreal.

Admittedly super hard for goalies to win it, much there are LOTS of hockey minds and insiderrrrrrs all saying he deserves it.

Wolf is the wildcard in this race between the flames and the Canucks for the last playoff spot. The Canucks have had to face a lot of adversity so far this season and much of it could be behind them in the last half of the season so they could be more poised than the flames to improve the rest of the way… just by the shear capacity to improve. The flames capacity to be better lies with Wolf keeping up his level of goaltending while playing more games and Sharangovich finding his scoring touch. If both those things happen while other players keep playing as well as they have been, I think it’s a real good chance that the flames make it.

Also, there’s still the chance that Vancouver self-implodes due to the Pettersson/Miller drama. It would be tough to win a trade sending out one of those two guys.

Biggest risk for the flames not improving is the loss of Zary. They need guys like Sharangovich, Pelletier and Kerins to make up for what he has been bringing to the team. Tonight, they did just that. Well done.

I want the Flames to make the playoffs PURELY because it would likely mean the Canucks missed.

Also, I was at the game tonight and the Chicago broadcast crew was pumping up Wolf as a serious Calder Trophy candidate during the post game.

Love hearing his name being mentioned by eastern media.
