They should have done it with some cost recovery involved. Flat $100 per brick, and $50 if they can't recover it for you. Reminder, these were donated for fundraising.

Probably would rather spend money on blue rings or crap like that. Or bike lanes. But it is the fact that they plainly said “sorry, it just can’t be done” while later it became apparent it very well could be done (albeit at a price).
