Eiserman is showing why he fell in the draft. Looks like "back half of his career Mike Hoffman" with the way he is only relevant on the powerplay.

Great shot but completely invisible 5 on 5

Yea, if I remember correctly he was considered a top 5 pick (or higher?)

Team USA benefits from the established chemistry of guys like Leonard and Perrault
Their program model is just more advanced than Canada

Whoever Canada hired as coach would never play them together anyway…

Yup. This is the current advantage that the US has and Canada has to overcome.

We need a national program as well.

Who does the national team play during the year/season?

Canada does really need a full-time coach who doesn't carry their biases from the league and club team they are associated with.
Get someone who can be welcome in the coach's office of any junior or college team and let them build relationships with potential players in a positive environment year-round.

Eiserman has such a sick shot, but you have to wonder if he ever develops a solid enough 5 on 5 game. You can't succeed in the NHL if you're only effective on the PP.

Im just not sure who that coach.....would coach?

Unless there is a dedicated national junior team established, where would such a person work?

And if they do establish such a team....where/who would that team play?

And what players would agree to join such a team? Major junior clubs offer lots of instruction and playing time for developing kids. The NCAA less so but still more than a national team could.

As for your last paragraph, that would just be a scout....and maybe that's the way it should go. Someone who travels and watches and talks to players on every major junior team and through out the USA with guys on NCAA teams.

I dont know. I think more than radical structural changes to the set up of HC, maybe they just need to go back to what worked for decades. Select the best players to form a team and put them in the hands of a current highly regarded coach who has his or her team somewhere among the lead in their respective league.

It just seems to me it should not be that complicated.

He’s also the biggest ###### in the tourney… wonder how he works out as a teammate in the NHL.
