Im just not sure who that coach.....would coach?
Unless there is a dedicated national junior team established, where would such a person work?
And if they do establish such a team....where/who would that team play?
And what players would agree to join such a team? Major junior clubs offer lots of instruction and playing time for developing kids. The NCAA less so but still more than a national team could.
As for your last paragraph, that would just be a scout....and maybe that's the way it should go. Someone who travels and watches and talks to players on every major junior team and through out the USA with guys on NCAA teams.
I dont know. I think more than radical structural changes to the set up of HC, maybe they just need to go back to what worked for decades. Select the best players to form a team and put them in the hands of a current highly regarded coach who has his or her team somewhere among the lead in their respective league.
It just seems to me it should not be that complicated.
