That's even giving them too much credit... remember that blog post from 10 years ago, Dave Nonis vs a Potato? Yeah, the Potato takes this.

I disagree, this roster is still better than any team at the tournament, other than maybe USA. They are too good to be eliminated early by the Czechs, they should STILL be competing for gold, but the coach didn't have them properly prepared for each game, didn't properly address the discipline issues, didn't play the right line combinations, and didn't employ a system that would bring success.

There’s some truth to this though. There’s bias and it’s annoying and stupid. And also eastern Canada needs to pick it up.

Yes, the coaching was pathetic. The team selection was pathetic. However, the fact that we had to play the Czechs in the 1/4s is directly on a bunch of undisciplined players. No one else. This team was a bunch of supposed tough guys out to prove no one can push us around and they paid the price.

No they're not that good at all and it's showing. This isn't the old days where Canada can just bring 20 randoms and be a Gold medal threat. These days they need to pick the best teams possible and they failed at that, horribly.

This roster on paper is better than any roster in the tournament, other than maybe USA. They are certainly a better group than the one that beat us tonight.

If your 23 man roster is not the BEST 23 players you can get right now in Canada then you're not doing it right, plain and simple.

Canada tried to 200iq a bunch of kids, then played politics and brought in guys from the Q just because I guess you cant omit a CHL league? Even still there were a few defenseman in the Q that they could have brought who made more sense.

Right, that's why you still need a good coach.

Especially when they're mostly 19-year-old kids. You can't build a team of grinders when they haven't yet learned to grind. All these kids need to work on their defensive game if they're going to make the NHL one day, and they know it. So let them work for a couple of weeks by defending against the best players in the world their own age. Take those skilled guys and help them round out their skills by playing them in a slightly different role.

And for Pete's sake, PRACTISE! Cameron said there was nothing he could do to fix the team. Well, you certainly can't fix anything if you don't even try. Trying is what practice is for!

Let's compare how many players on Team Canada have been drafted by NHL clubs, compared to Team Czechia, or how high they were picked...

No, their roster on paper is not better than any roster in the tournament at all.

Actually it is.

This roster with a competent coach makes it to the Gold Medal Game.

I could pick next year's team right now and do a better job than Hockey Canada is likely to next year. That is sad.

No way this roster makes it to the gold medal game under a competent coach. They didn't take their best roster and you admitted that they left some of their best players at home. No way man, they blew it in roster selection, not sure why you're arguing that when it's so obvious.

That team needed to start with some basic horseshoe drills.

They didn't take their best roster, but the one they did take is good enough to be competing for gold under a different coach.
