Rare to see universal agreement on something like this. I haven't see anyone have a contrarian take that it was good to leave these guys off and include less talented players

I've seen fans of teams in the OHL that are obviously rivals of Saginaw of saying Parekh is arrogant and plays selfish and dirty and laughing but sounds k=just like rival bickering.

So why not have the younger guys at least at camp for more evaluations. Then, if you decide older is better, fine.

And Parekh will be 19 in February and Sennecke will be 19 in January. Yak is already 19 - he won't get another shot.

Injuries usually happen so there is the chance that a couple of players make it onto the team.

Curious which Flames prospects will actually be in the wjc this year.

When you can't come up with any logical explanation for Parekh and Iginla to be left off, you start to think of other reasons.

Is it possible there is anti-Flames sentiment from Hockey Canada? Or even racism because they're not white?

I’ll add I find it satisfying that the real hockey minds and not just us homer flames fans are absolutely miffed at how a bunch of guys were left off.

Heard on the radio (kipper and borne show I think?) one of the guests was shocked they left off 4 top 6 picks from this years draft and went on to say something to the effect of it smelling dirty.

Combine that with dozens of blogger posts about it, I truly wonder if Cameron did purposefully omit players based on his feelings being hurt.

The explanation is the coach went with older and more defensively responsible players.

I am not sure, but let's definitely jump to conclusions!

Because we're less than a month out from the tournament.

I'm not justifying the selections but the process is fine.

That changes my point how? They'll be 19 and on the team next year if they play well.

Stop getting so bent out of shape about the World Juniors, it has zero indication about future NHL success

Bent out of shape? Nah. I just think it’s stupid not to take the best players.

I still think it’s hilarious they invited back seven players from the team that finished fifth last year. LOL.

This isn’t a world war. It’s under 21 hockey players that happen to be born in a certain area. Who gives a #### who someone cheers for

They always tend to invite back those who played previously, because they have experience in the tournament, have played together, and form a nucleus for the rest of the team to gel around. Which I think is sound.

But I also think that's something that should have militated in favour of inviting more of the top 18-year-olds to the camp. You're going to want six or seven guys that can return next year. Parekh, Sennecke, and Iginla may well make next team's roster but they'll be lacking the tournament experience. They at least deserved a shot as 18-year-olds.

As expected Axel Hurtig has made Sweden's team again.

Hurtig is not as regarded around here, I think because of his boxscores.

I think he is gonna be a good pro in the vein of a Tanev or similar.

Yeah, I think he is one of our most under-rated prospects, flying under the radar because he doesn't put up points. I think he has a legit shot at playing in the NHL.
