Default Weird customs around the world that don't change

Without getting to crazy religious crap how about some other weird stuff around the world.

Here's one nobody talks about.

Of the 195 countries on planet earth the USA, Liberia and Myanmar are the only countries that use the archaic imperial system of measurement? like really?

I'm thinking all three don't do well in math.

I seem to recall the Federal government did make the decision to change to metric, and the individual states were like, F that.

I'm not familiar with that tradition. Does it have to be in that order?

Have you travelled on those Uzbek airlines? If anyone has a genuinely good reason to applaud a safe landing its people on Uzbek commuter flights.

When WestJet touches down in Calgary or whatever we kind of should be expecting that, but when an Uzbek commuter flight touches down safely...yeah, applause is certainly in order because it was probably touch and go for a while there.

I knew someone from Korea that said they wouldn't sleep with the fan on overnight as they'd suffocate. Very weird, supposedly the fans even come with warnings.

Chinese people who show up late to wedding banquets. My wedding, I had to separate invitations, the one for white people posted one hour later.

My partner ( not Chinese) is adamant that you cannot show up empty handed and it drives me absolutely crazy. Just the same I hate it when people do it to me.

My Taiwanese ex-girlfriend would also knock on the door before entering a hotel room to scare away any spirits that might be lingering inside. I have a few Asian friends who do the same. I always wondered if knocking might just summon them to the door.
