Of the 195 countries on planet earth the USA, Liberia and Myanmar are the only countries that use the archaic imperial system of measurement? like really?
Pet peeve:
I get annoyed when white people show up at parties and don't bring anything.
Conversely, I also get annoyed when someone shows up with something at my house and I have to deal with the aftermath of it.
Also oddly annoyed when I forget about an occasion and I'm last minute scrambling on what to bring.

Haha Uzbeks roar their approval at a good landing. I chuckle every time.
Have you travelled on those Uzbek airlines? If anyone has a genuinely good reason to applaud a safe landing its people on Uzbek commuter flights.
When WestJet touches down in Calgary or whatever we kind of should be expecting that, but when an Uzbek commuter flight touches down safely...yeah, applause is certainly in order because it was probably touch and go for a while there.

I knew someone from Korea that said they wouldn't sleep with the fan on overnight as they'd suffocate. Very weird, supposedly the fans even come with warnings.

My partner ( not Chinese) is adamant that you cannot show up empty handed and it drives me absolutely crazy. Just the same I hate it when people do it to me.

My Taiwanese ex-girlfriend would also knock on the door before entering a hotel room to scare away any spirits that might be lingering inside. I have a few Asian friends who do the same. I always wondered if knocking might just summon them to the door.
