Flames Gaudreau family to attend CBJ@CGY game on Dec. 3 at Flames' invitation

Really nice gesture by the org ... and really makes me wonder about exactly how the Flames will commemorate No. 13 at the ceremony.

https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article...-blue-jackets/

Quote:
Although the Flames have kept details of their Dec. 3 tribute under wraps, the Gaudreau family will be flown in to be part of an evening honouring Johnny Hockey for his work in the community and the nine years of brilliance he exhibited as one of organization’s most popular stars.

“We are deeply grateful to the Flames organization for inviting us back,” said Jane in a text message from her home in New Jersey.

“Guy and I, along with our entire family, are looking forward to reconnecting with many friends in Calgary.

“The love and support so many have shown for John, Matty, and our entire family has helped us through the hardest time of our lives.”

Such a special family. Good for thr Flames. Fans will be able to show them in person how much he meant to the team and the city.

I love that family especially Jane, I love how she interact with fans on Twitter. Every time I comment on her post and asked her questions, she would answer and not ignore me.

Nevermind at the game, I'm in tears now already reading this thread.

The past few games I have seen what appears to be a red banner of sorts furled up in the rafters. Hard to describe the placement... I guess it's in front of sec 211 and the home bench? It's definitely Flames red, and I saw what appears to be a "2" on it in Flames white font.

I wonder if they had a Johnny banner already made up and will unfurl it on Dec 3.

I want to see the Dome give that family the loudest, longest standing ovation they've ever received.

Looking forward to this, even though this is going to be painful to watch. I am sure that the Flames will do a fantastic job properly honouring Johnny.

Those are the Wranglers' banners. They're rolled up during Flames games.

Meredith Gaudreau is the same, her Instagram is daily keeping Johnny's memory going and she reposts things that fans send her or say.

December 3rd is going to be tough but I'm so happy the Gaudreau's will be there.

I hope Monahan is given a huge cheer each time he touches the puck as well

When Monahan scored a hattrick against the Flames with Winnipeg I stood and cheered each one of his goals (wearing a Flames Monahan jersey).

Some guy chirped me and I just pointed to the back of my shirt.

I love Sean Monahan.

There's still plenty of inexpensive tickets on Ticketmaster and Fansfirst.ca

Picked this one specifically at the start of the season from my STH group hoping Flames would do something like this.

(Actually: KNOWING they would. You can pretty much bet on the Flames to do these sorts of things right.)
