“Midnight Rx”
After Burns cancels the employee drug program, Grampa and Homer goes to Canada for cheaper prescriptions and get caught smuggling. Don't miss an all-new episode of The Simpsons, Sunday January 16 th 8PM /7C (9MTN)
What's more Canadian than getting excited about seeing a mention of Canada on American TV? And why hasn't this been publicized like the last time they went to Canada?

Great show! Had me laughing numerous times, but it should have been one hour.

Ugh for the whole thing.
Remember the last time Mr. Burns tried to take something away?
Dental Plan! Lisa needs braces. Dental Plan! Lisa needs braces. Dental Plan! Lisa needs braces.
Maybe the greatest episode ever.
Tonight -- just not funny at all. That "Friends" Irish accent gag was nearly enough to make me change the channel.

I got this book from my mommy for Christmas.
The author (Chris Turner is his name and he lives in Calgary) says there is a "Golden Age" of the Simpsons that ran from 1992 to 1997.5 and during that time it all came together perfectly and it was the best sit-com ever made.
I agree with him. Can't keep it up forever though.
It's a little depressing watching it now because it's like watching the '99 Flames and expecting the '89 Flames.

Haha, great analogy.
I completely agree. There's a stretch from about season 4 to season 7 where it was absolutely golden, and there were flashes of that brilliance in seasons 3, 8 and 9. Watching the episodes from those seasons sometimes makes me shake my head in amazement and think... 'My god, that is simply brilliant.'
It's uncomprehendable how much the show has fallen off in it's later years. Every couple of weeks I tune in and hope 'hey, maybe they've turned it around!' but it always ends in dissapointment. It's kind of like if 'Cheers' had converted the bar into a strip joint in the show's latter years, and gave Norm the last 10 minutes of air time to have his will with the stripper pole wearing nothing but a string bikini. It's just not good television!
You think just once they could come up with a show that was reminiscent of the glory days, but it seems to be an impossible feat. They really need to bring back the old writers, and Phil Hartman from the grave might help.
And I also agree the dental plan episode is the best one ever made., with the gun episode a close second, IMO.

I am a huge Simpsons fan (as you can see by my name), and I have thought many times in the past 'What am I going to do if they ever take this show off the air.' But, the past couple of seasons have been horrible. There's the odd episode that makes me chuckle, but there's been a number where I failed to even crack a smile. Cancel this show already.

I haven't watched a "new" episode of the Simpsons in years - until last night, and I thought it was pretty funny.
Could it be that some of you hardcore fans maybe watch the show a little too much and are growing immune to the humour?
Although it would be nice if they could get Conan O'Brien to write a few again.

Ridiculous.
I gave up on the Simpsons two seaasons ago. Every once in awhile I watch the new episode, but am thoroughly disappointed. I missed last night's, and apparently I didn't miss much.
The problem with the writing is that they are putting conversation into the show. As mentioned, seasons 4-8 were the best. Those episodes were joke-to-joke-to-joke, with some situational comedy in the background. Now, the Simpsons sit on their couch & discuss unfunny things.
To me, watching these episodes is like watching your old dog fumble around. You love the thing to death, but you just to put him out of his misery.
The longer the Simpsons run, the happier I am that Jerry Seinfeld ended his show when he did.

Well last nights epsiode was funny and I don;t know what all the talk about season four is about I went back to review some of the episodes and they are nowhere near all that funny that people seem to be making them out to be.
I haven't seen a ton of new episodes but that has to do with me usually not being home on Sunday nights rather than not liking the show because many times that I have seen new episodes they have been fairly funny.
