Default Calgary Home Set on Fire, Threatening Notes Sent to Neighbours Asking for Bitcoin

https://calgary.citynews.ca/2024/11/...ening-letters/

NW Calgary home set on fire, threatening notes sent to neighbours asking for bitcoin: CPS

Police are investigating after a home was set on fire in northwest Calgary and several neighbours reported receiving threatening letters.

Emergency crews were called to a fire at a house in the Hillhurst community near 8 Avenue and 17 Street NW around 3:10 a.m. Tuesday.

Investigators deemed the fire suspicious and Calgary police now say they believe it was set on purpose.

Police also say several neighbours reported getting threatening letters left on their front steps. The notes allegedly asked for residents to send bitcoin transfers.

Investigators say a number of similar arsons took place in Edmonton in September and October. Police are trying to determine if there is a connection.

Remember those days when we thought scamming people out of Apple Gift Cards was heinous?

How quaint in retrospect.

Calgary is a bit slow, that gang has been lighting up homes in Edmonton for over a year now.

Edit: also may be them in Ontario

They should be locked up indefinitely until they can post 1 million bitcoins for bail.

Kind of ironic for a Carpenter to die because he got nails in his hands.

All of that reads like a joke.

All of it.

"Police Search for Finbar as a suspect of arson in a bitcoin extortion case."

Do not not pay.

It reads like an Onion article.
