8 teams will be available for broadcast on a per game basis

The nation's largest owner of regional sports networks (RSNs) will offer single-game pricing for NBA and NHL games beginning next month.
Diamond Sports Group, which owns 16 RSNs, announced Tuesday that the option will be available on its direct-to-consumer streaming package starting Dec. 5.
Viewers will have the option for single games at $6.99, as well as the chance to sign up for monthly or season pass subscriptions.

When corporations act this way it solidifies my choice to never pay to watch hockey again.
If anyone ever wants info about sailing the 7 seas, DM me.

Are there ways to sail without watching live? I frigging hate it if I'm arbitrarily across the AB/BC border I can't watch a flames game via the subscription I pay for, and I haven't found an alternative for watching the game after it's already started/concluded.
I'm not looking for details on someone's public forum. Just curious if that's even a thing.

Google the name of the league and Mario Lemieux's number, that's where I go if I want to watch a replay.

This is where torrenting is better than streaming. I’ve never done it personally but I have watched several UFC PPVs the day after this way. I don’t know if any websites store and stream games after the fact.
^^ give cams idea a shot, that’s a great site.

It's really not that bad, if you go full screen there's no ads (apart from the broadcast itself obviously).

You sure about that? I remember a few irritating PPV games and not all games were on TV but 2&7 started broadcasting games immediately after the the move from Atlanta, the legendary "Hello Hockey Fans" didn't come from PPV or CBC.

I think most games weren't televised at all in those (analog) days. With only a limited number of networks, there wasn't interest in those days to show every game on TV (even with pay-per-view). You had to use radio to follow the Flames. It was only with the rise of sports stations and the increasing value of live sports that more and more games became televised.

When the Flames first came to town, regular-season home games were not televised unless they were on HNIC, and regular-season road games were sometimes televised and sometimes not. Usually there were something like 25 to 30 games on TV, plus playoffs.
This changed with the rise of cable sports channels, and with the belated realization by owners that putting the games on TV actually increased demand for tickets.

That's not true at all. I watched plenty of home games on 2&7 as a kid. They may have done fewer games in the Corral because it was a crappy building to broadcast out of, but once they moved into the Dome, they did a lot of games.
Without digging out my old Shoppers Drug Mart calendars, I suspect we got more home telecasts than road because it was cheaper to produce the home games because they didn't have to pay for travel.
Speaking of the old calendars, here's one on eBay from 1986-87: https://www.ebay.ca/itm/233368532809. You can see the November schedule. They had 14 games (11 home, 3 road) and 6 were televised (5 home, 1 road).
Also, ticket sales didn't play a factor in which games were televised because every home game the Flames played was a sellout well into the 90s.

I still remember getting a photo and autograph with Eddy Beers and then a few years later Kent Nilsson at shoppers drug mart southland drive picking up the latest calendar. Those things were the schit! I still have the Eddy Beers photo. I think I had one with Ken Houston as well.
