Mike Richards in the morning had a guy from some wrestling site on the other day, I can't recall the name of the site, and the topic of steroids came up. They talked about how the WWE introduced the Wellness program. And he went on to say that they were strict for a couple of months but it slowly feel out of fashion for the top wrestlers.

The WWE is in a tough position. On the one hand the fans like the bulked up guys and it gets people to watch. On the other hand it is damaging to their health and sometimes takes their lives. So they need bulked up guys but they need them alive and healthy. Hopefully they start seriously enforcing their Wellness program. If this case with Benoit points to steroids being a cause, then you can sure bet the WWE will lay down the law for steroids. But if Benoit doesn't test for steroids, they should still tighten up their testing to prevent future problems.

24wrestling.com had a link to a news article that said the IP could not be traced back to any WWE computers, despite it being in Stamford.

Probably just a technicality though where the computer used is actually a WWE computer, as the coincidence is far too 'coincidental' to be negated.

Benoit's Web page altered hours before wife's death

Also Thursday, federal drug agents said they had raided the west Georgia office of a doctor who prescribed testosterone to Benoit.
The raid at Dr. Phil Astin's office in Carrollton began Wednesday night and concluded early Thursday, said agent Chuvalo Truesdell, a spokesman for the Drug Enforcement Administration. No arrests were made.

Benoit's page on Wikipedia, a reference site that allows users to add and edit information, was updated at 12:01 a.m. Monday, about 14 hours before authorities say the bodies were found. The reason he missed a match Saturday night was "stemming from the death of his wife Nancy," it said.

Reporters informed the Fayette County district attorney's office of the posting Thursday, and the agency forwarded the information to sheriff's investigators, who are looking into it, a legal assistant said in an e-mail to the AP.

WWE attorney Jerry McDevitt said that to his knowledge, no one at the WWE knew Nancy Benoit was dead before her body was found Monday afternoon. Text messages released by officials show that messages from Chris Benoit's cell phone were being sent to co-workers a few hours after the Wikipedia posting.

WWE employees are given WWE e-mail addresses, McDevitt said, though he did not know whether Chris Benoit had one. "I have no idea who posted this," McDevitt said. "It's at least possible Chris may have sent some other text message to someone that we're unaware of. We don't know if he did. The phone is in the possession of authorities."

On Thursday afternoon, the Wikipedia page about Benoit carried a note stating that editing by unregistered or newly registered users was disabled until July 8 because of vandalism.
In other developments Thursday, Ballard told the AP that 10 empty beer cans were found in a trash can in the Benoit home. An empty wine bottle was found a few feet from where Benoit hanged himself, Ballard said.

Fox News is reporting that an anonymous user out of Stamford, CT edited Chris Benoit's entry on Wikipedia to feature the comments, "However, Chris Benoit was replaced by Johnny Nitro for the ECW Championship match at Vengeance, as Benoit was not there due to personal issues, stemming from the death of his wife Nancy." The comments led to Wikipedia volunteers contacting Fayetteville, Georgia authorities.

However, the I.P. address in question also made a series of other edits to different entries, including former WWE Diva Stacy Keibler, WWE star Chavo Guerrero, NBA player Ron Artest and the HBO series The Sopranos. Many of the edits were misspelled or explicit in nature, leading one to believe that the postings were made by a hoaxer. You can read this person's past edits here.

Even though the IP address is being traced back to Stamford, CT, it's also entirely conceivable that the user was concealing his true IP address. One person who knows a lot about internet technology said, "They have software out there that you install on your computer that will change your IP address and location or origin that people will see on the Internet. IP spoofing is a little more technical so with this user, based on the grammar, looks to be someone young using a software program of that nature."

More than likely, this person made a wild guess regarding the Benoit situation at the time, and this person turned out to be right.

OK, I'm not a big wrestling fan, but do see it every few months, so that I know who most of the names are.
I've noticed Kurt Angle has really changed over the years, he used to be fit, like he works out, but now he is looking pretty roided up. He also used to have a personality, and at one time was doing some schtick that actaully made you laugh. Now he just has that crazy look in his eyes and he's foaming at the mouth, and ranting. I think he broke his neck, so no doubt he has got to be taking crap loads of meds to continue the lifestyle.

Angle broke his back prior to his days in the WWE. His neck was broken when he won Olympic gold. I believe he reinjured his neck while with the company, and that was the reason for Lesnar beating him at Wrestlemania (I think was the PPV) the one where Lesnar missed the shooting star press and gave himself a concussion, had no idea where he was, and was hugging Angle of all people after being handed the belt.

For the record I don't watch it all that often, mostly because the wrestlers who are good on the mic are gone. If you can have 20,000 people eating out of the palm of your hand while public speaking, you have my respect sir/ma'am.

As for it being fake. I hate the term as it's more real that people realize. Yes the outcomes are predetermined. But the injuries are real. Broken arms, legs, necks, etc. I mean being body slammed through a table lit on fire isn't exactly "fake". Sure the table is precut but that doesn't mean it doesn't hurt. And sweet mother of Sam the "blown spots" are enough to make you cringe.

Chris Benoit was a "delusional juice freak" who chased the dark side and had trouble distinguishing between his fictional character and reality, says the man who started him out in professional wrestling.
"The last time I saw him he was in pretty rough shape mentally," said Bruce Hart, son of the legendary Stu Hart. "I didn't know all the details but I knew it wasn't good. I was not at all shocked (by what happened).
"If I could see and determine that in a few visits, how the hell could they (World Wrestling Entertainment) not have known something was wrong? (In my opinion) I think the WWE needs to re-evaluate what it is doing here."

Hart was also deeply angered that the WWE aired a three-hour tribute to Benoit on Monday night.
"I kept hearing 'He was a nice guy, a great guy' and I knew him when he was a kid. But all I know now is he's a murderer," Hart said. In my opinion, "for them to do a tribute show was disgraceful."

I always take Bruce Hart's opinion with a grain of salt, he's a notorius attention whore, who tried to wrangle Owen Hart's death into a job with the WWE. He's also not a very good person.

For the next two weeks or so until the toxicology reports show up we're going to have 8 billion theories about why this happened. The last thing we need is more fuel on the fire.

I know a couple of guys who wrestled for Stampede, and Bruce Hart was known throughout the organization as two-faced and a back stabber. I would not put too much into what that guy says - he was universally hated by the wrestlers in Stampede.

The interesting part of this user's contribution history is that they made no edits for a week prior to that posting. The changes they made to Stacy Kiebler, Chavo Guerrero, etc were made from May 15-June 16. Then nothing, then that one post on the 24th.

Probably just a freaky coincidence though.
