179 Minutes: Lindholm-Mangiapane-Sharangovich: 7 GF / 8 GA / 46.9 xGF / 7.14% Shooting %
146 Minutes: Huberdeau - Lindholm - Sharangovich: 6 GF / 11 GA / 44.3 xGF / 6.76 Shooting %
101 Minutes: Huberdeau - Sharangovich - Kuzmenko - 2 GF / 4 GA / 63.1 xGF / 4.35% Shooting %
73 Minutes: Zary - Kadri - Sharangovich: 5 GF / 7 GA / 53.0% xGF / 9.52% Shooting %
50 Minutes: Greer - Sharangovich - Duehr: 1 GF / 2 GA / 62.1% xGF / 4.17% Shooting %
Unfortunately it's tough to break down where his 22 even strength goals happened but in terms of driving play he tends to be more effective when playing center but he had better shooting luck on the wing.
So to me I think I'd trust that those percentages normalize at some point with him playing center.

Fair points.
As things stand right now we will have to take it on the chin as far as our options go with C, until we draft some natural ones.
I know it is a focus of them, so hopefully we can stock on a bunch in the next drafts. You can always easily move them to the wing, converting a winger is much harder as we are seeing right now.

They clearly think Zary is an NHL winger, Pospisil probably looked even less effective there, and neither Kirkland or Rooney should be in a top 9 role.
Sharangovich has probably looked more effective at center than the other options, and also took some time getting back to speed after his injury.
Edit: And the underlying numbers at 5v5 for Huberdeau + Sharangovich are really good - it's the finishing that's struggled and he's had a lot of missed chances individually.
Corsi For: 62.50%
Shots For: 65.9%
HDCF: 66.7% (10 FOR / 5 against)
xGF: 62.14%
GF: 33% (1 For / 2 Against)
On Ice Shooting: 3.23%
On Ice Save%: .875
Faceoff: 50% (32/64)
Honestly there is no reason to move him from Center right now. The chances just haven't been going in yet.

They should try Zary.

Why don’t they give Kerins a shot.

When I first read this, I was ready to laugh and say.. "Easy there tiger, he doesn't deserve an NHL shot at all right now."
I'm well aware what he's doing this year, but he's been a prospect long forgotten for multiple years now. I think 44/54 GP over last couple years made people forget. His numbers are solid in those games too.
It's nice to finally have a system where we're hoping for top prospects, but then guys like Pospisil, Zary and Kerins make us rethink things.

Pospisil was pretty much a "see you never" prospect a couple years ago. Concussion history with no skill.
Lol.

I'm not going to bring out analytics, percentages or stats when it comes to who should play C.
If it comes to Sharangovich or Zary, it's Sharky all day for me. I'm not going to dive deep into the numbers, I can see for myself regardless of that.
Zary is a winger IMO. Sharangovich might be better off there too, I'm simply saying Yegor is a better C.

Once again, you said it before I had the chance, gvitaly!!
I really believe that Duehr's problems are that he doesn't mesh at all with Huska- there's a player there, even if he has to be traded to a new team to reach his potential. He's a big body who can play with a bit of power, and would instantly be one of the fastest players on the roster if he were called up- no exaggeration. Maybe not a top-6 player, but he could be good on a third line, IMO.

I could see him being a big bodied, 20 goal scorer in another situation.

The debate on who looks less bad at center shows why Conny is talking about hunting for a young C. I think all of Zary, Pospisil, and Sharky are better suited to the wing, but what are ya gonna do?

The numbers SuperMatt quoted imply that Sharangovich might actually be better as a center.

8 points in his first 4 games.
4 points in his next 8.
Maybe he's just not ready? Why assume that the decision makers are being vindictive?

Maybe 20 goals in his career, but not in a single NHL season.

David Moss is a good example. I personally see Stephan Matteau! It has been a long time, but similar skating, big bodied but not exactly scary, good shot but not the best vision, but effective with his toolset.
I do think that Duehr was fantastic his first year. Sophomore jinx? Bad fit under Huska? Even ignoring the bias with regards to wanting to see fresh blood in the Sutter era, Duehr was fantastic. Last season he just stopped skating, and I don't understand. The Flames try to be a fast-transition team. I think he would have fit nicely, but I don't think he won a spot in camp. I do, however, agree that he should probably get a recall at some point and see if he isn't a part of the solution. That 4th line has not been good outside of the first handful of games.

Rob Kerr always used to say is the he a 20 goal scorer or a player who scored 20 goals.
Moss was a guy who scored 20 goals. Useful player but you could never pencil him in for 20.

Not sure what happened, but he didn’t seem to gel with Huska right out of training camp last year. You would think impressing Sutter would be a more difficult mountain to climb than impressing Huska, but they’re two very different coaches, I guess.
The polar opposite of Rooney’s situation….

It may have been a coaching/systems issue, or perhaps just a combination of different things. I believe he had gotten married last off-season. Maybe the contract extension he signed in April 2023? Perhaps he just took a big hit, or had a nagging injury, and got a bit gun-shy? It was really notable how different he played last season, however. I loved the speed, decent shot and grittiness that he had. Everything disappeared
Could be that he just needs a bit more time to realize what it means to play at the NHL level, and how consistent you have to be in effort. Hathaway took a few years to find enough consistency in his game - he had long stretches where he was completely invisible and would get sent down. Perhaps Duehr needs a bit more time, or perhaps he just isn't an NHL'er and will never be. Too bad. He looked like he was going to become a fantastic depth guy.
