Default Some interesting poll results in America

For the first time, pollsters find that a majority of Americans believe gays cannot change their sexual orientation even if they wanted to:

http://edition.cnn.com/2007/US/06/27...gay/index.html

And . . . . pollsters find younger Americans appear to be increasingly "liberal" in their views.

Young Americans are more likely than the general public to favor a government-run universal health care insurance system, an open-door policy on immigration and the legalization of gay marriage, according to a New York Times/CBS News/MTV poll. The poll also found that they are more likely to say the war in Iraq is heading to a successful conclusion.

Very detailed poll story here on young Americans:

http://www.denverpost.com/ci_6236982

(As I've said before though, the immigration issue doesn't appear to be one of left versus right or liberal versus conservative.)

But they said they did not believe Americans would elect as president someone who had used cocaine or someone who was a Mormon.
Didn't that already happen?

I don't think this is all that strange of a result.
I'd say that for the most part young people are far more liberal than older folks.

I'm sure a lot of conservatives here (myself included) can think back to a time when they thought that the country should be a lot more liberal.

So you want to be stuck at home plate without any way to reach first?

I'm conservative....mostly...but VERY liberal compared to my parents, and even more liberal compared to my grandparents.

With your philosophy, you wouldn't even want to go to first base.

i think the ostensibly altruistic nature of some liberal views attracts the younger people.

i would love to see Ron Paul be given a chance to change some of their minds.

so long as being conservative means that you also think bill oreilly, ann coulter, glen beck, hannity (from hannity and colmes), and rush limbaugh are numbers 1-5 on the stupidest people on earth list then sure i like conservatives.

and no not really surprised that young people are more liberal. not only because of the altruistic angle but because most of the conservatives in america today are bats*** crazy.

As I get older, the more and more I realize the brain gets in the way of most things that are truly important.

As random guy said in the Last Samurai, "too many mind".
