With that said, Arsenal got too timid once Gabriel was hurt and the balance of play probably deserved a draw.
I actually think a draw is pretty generous for Liverpool on that one, so I'll take it!

As for that goal, it wasnt 'called back' the Ref had blown the whistle for a foul ages ago and Arsenal just kept playing.

I do think Arsenal were better. They were at home and Saka looked like he felt he had something to prove.

Liverpool's front 3 need a real kick in the ass. Get it going. Or else.

Yeah, called back was the wrong wording but you know what I meant.
The "phantom whistle" for unknown foul would be a better way to put it.

We're going to miss his asinine post-game pressers though...

I hope they replace him with a complete goof, but I think Mourinho has a job at the moment.

I'd imagine the hope is for van Nistelrooy to steady the ship and somehow get them through the season. Don't think there's an appetite to appoint a long-term successor before the summer.

Former United Legend.

I think I've seen this movie before. What...Wayne Rooney is busy?

I don't want him to bring Gyokeres to them; that's my Arsenal striker target.

not going to lie, I'm pretty excited by Ruben Amorim taking over (some details left to iron out, but everything pointing in that direction). This one has Omar Berrada's fingerprints all over ... given some of the names that have been floated, this one is by far the most exciting choice. Up and coming manager who faced a similar situation at Sporting and brought them back to glory, and I think the back three that he favors actually makes a ton of sense with this squad.

I'd imagine van Nistelrooy will have a couple of games before everything is ironed out. United are paying Amorim's release clause, but there's still some haggling over the backroom staff and 30 days notice that Amorim apparently has in his contract. Will probably have to wait until Sporting has a replacement lined up.

Amorim has such a big job in front of him... the players united have been buying are simply not title contending level players... cast offs from bigger clubs and 2nd tier younger players like zirkzee youd expect to see going to everton or palace. it will take him a couple years to build a contender there if he is cut from the right cloth. But maybe if he's really good he can win a cup or two while he builds

Interesting to see Arsenal dropping so far back in the race so early... I know there were a lot of complaints about liverpool stealing the draw last week but they were at least played even this week by a newcastle team that had been in bad form. Ffp is tough but seeing them start players like Trossard who are a long ways off being stars it seems to me like they are 2 or 3 players away from being a legit challenge to city big picture in all but their perfect season

Seems like it's just one of those days for the big clubs, Liverpool and Man City are also being comfortably outplayed at halftime.

Arsenal were awful today, was hard to watch.
No Odegaard, no title chance.
Better win the Champions League I guess.
