Any one else watch this show?

It's on Tuesday nights at 10:30PM et on The Comedy Network.

Pretty sweet show that puts two guys against each other in a club with the goal of picking up girls with different twists.

Stuff like getting a girl away from a group of girls and getting her phone number, or getting a girl's phone number only after insulting her hair and makeup.

I have watched the show a few times, those guys are pretty good…but girls are attracted to status and if they know (which I assume they do) that these guys are on T.V. its not really a challenge to pick up a girl…there are much better guys out there

I've seen a couple episodes. Something really turned me off about the show and I couldn't put my finger on it. I dislike most shows that try to make heroes out of buttholes who strive to do detestful and socially useless things on TV.

Are you sure the girls know the guys? It's presented as a reality show and I've assumed that these guys are simply contestants.

Some other "twists" they have on the show:

Call your Shot - Seduce the women your competitor has selected for you to approach
The Laugh Factor - Make a woman laugh
Line Off - Initiate a pick-up using the provided one-liner
Questions - Obtain a woman's phone number while only speaking in questions
Recovery - Initiate a conversation with a woman by insulting her shoes
Seduction School - Demonstrate your most impressive seduction technique
Sexy Talent - Each player must get a woman to reveal and demonstrate a sexy secret talent
Speed Dial - Obtain a woman's phone number in less than a minute
Starving Artist - Convince a girl that you're an unemployed artist living at home with your parents
Three Approaches - Each player has 5 min to approach three different women
Why You Suck - Initiate conversation with a woman by telling her why she sucks.

Decent show for what it is, but it's somewhat setup.

What happens is when you enter the club, you have to sign a form stating that you know and understand that there are cameras setup throughout the venue and it is possible that you may be on camera/tv throughout the night.

Then if one of these guys actually comes up and hits on you, right after he leaves a person from the shows crew will run up and have the woman sign another waiver this time stating that she will be on the show.

So obviously throughout the night ppl get talking throughout the club and Im sure by then it has gotten out who exactly are the "players" out there.
That and I've seen an episode where the guy will go back and talk to the same group of girls later in the night. and obviously their reaction to them is even better than the first time.

What the show is good for is letting guys know that if they goto a club and gosh actually talk to girls, they will, and wait for it....
meet some girls!

Pffft... I don't buy that... I'm going to keep going clubbing with the tried-and-true method; grind up against some strange girl and hope she grinds back, no words required.

I have watched the show a few times. It's alright but it gets old if you watch to much of it. It does have it's moments where it is funny. I am getting sick of all these reality shows however. Everytime a new season of shows is starting up more and more of these shows are coming up. They are taking over the TV networks and its getting scary. I'll never forget the first big one (that I know of) Survivor.... I laughed at the first previews and thought "Who would ever watch this crap....." Wow was I wrong and here I am watching some of these shows myself now lol. Does anybody else remember "TGIF" nights on NBC?

Meh, I like reality shows... I don't see why they're 'strange', whereas stories with actors are 'normal'... objectively viewed I'd see it as the other way around.

I like showing 'real' people reacting to 'real' situations, ancient sit-com style programming seems decrepit now by comparison (what, another family-oriented show where the parents have problems with their kids? Slot it in Thursday's at 9...).

This is one of the reasons I don't like so called Reality Television. Practically every instance or situation is engineered by the show's producers or creative directors plus the "stars" are frequently coached or emotionally manipulated to predictable results.

One of the objectives of scripted television shows is the escapism that are provided for the viewer. Being able to create characters and storylines that viewers are drawn into is a skill that seems to be falling by the wayside these days because most television studios would rather not spend the money on writing.

As opposed to what... your basic sit-com? At least reality shows are real people being coached, not pure actors putting on a 100% fake scene. There is a fascination with taking a bunch of actual people off, putting them in strange scenarios (Big Brother/Survivor), and watching them yell at/make out with other people.

Not to mention something like The Ultimate Fighter, a show that you couldn't do any way other than 'reality' television.

Maybe... I'm not so sure the reason reality tv has become popular is because writing tv is so expensive... I think people actually like it and want to watch it.

Call your Shot - Seduce the women your competitor has selected for you to approach

(A good wingman does this for you anyway, I mean as long as he isn’t a dick)

The Laugh Factor - Make a woman laugh

(Make a women laugh? Not an easy thing to do but almost everyone knows that women love guys who can make them laugh)

Line Off - Initiate a pick-up using the provided one-liner

(Body Langue always trumps words, basically you could say anything as long as your have good strong body langue)

Questions - Obtain a woman's phone number while only speaking in questions

(That’s tough…I can’t even talk in questions…what they should be doing is talking in only statements)

Recovery - Initiate a conversation with a woman by insulting her shoes

(Nothing amazing here, in fact little insults little insults like this our encouraged)

SeductionSchool - Demonstrate your most impressive seduction technique

(Hope it works)

Sexy Talent - Each player must get a woman to reveal and demonstrate a sexy secret talent

(I really don’t see what is hard about this…if a girl is interested in you and you ask her this she will tell you)

Speed Dial - Obtain a woman's phone number in less than a minute

(“Hey you are cute as hell, I am leaving but I would love to get to know you give me your number”…done and done)

Starving Artist - Convince a girl that you're an unemployed artist living at home with your parents

(I prefer telling women that I work part-time at taco bell)

Three Approaches - Each player has 5 min to approach three different women

(Not to hard)

Why You Suck - Initiate conversation with a woman by telling her why she sucks

(Telling a woman that she sucks is a pretty good pick-up line)
Believe it or not these guys aren’t doing anything new …these types of competitions have challenges have been going on for years and years in the seduction community…

haha I love how you refer to bars as the seduction community!

you make it seem like picking up chicks is a cult like activity.

Tyler Durden and Papas company Real Social Dynamics is holding a bootcamp in cowtown on July 13th. That would be neat to see. I'm sure they will be at the mynt or cowboys or something.

Before laughing at some of the contestants I would actually like to see those 4 hosts in action. I bet they wouldn't perform as good as they let on.

Here's the thing - Sitcoms don't claim to be real. The very name "Reality TV" makes a claim that the interactions and situations are real when in fact they are usually very contrived. That's my problem with them. The genre makes a claim to being real when it really isn't.

No arguement there. Before the dawn of the Reality Television era a show like The Ultimate Fighter would have been in the realm of game shows because that is essentially what it is - a competition with all the backstage antics filmed for television.

I didn't say that the expense of television writers was why Reality Television is popular. I fully realize that there are a large number of people who watch the shows. The deduction of the cost of writers is the reason why it is so popular with the television studios.
