Imagine the Conservatives win by under 10 votes, and the vote split between Communist and NDP in that one riding changes the government.

Glancing around the map it looks like Surrey has two incredibly close ridings. One 11 vote gap, the other ~110, both currently blue

The BC Green Party is going to deliver a possible majority government to to the BC Conservative Party and Sonia Fursteneau is proud of this for the off chance they're the king-maker.

She's an absolute ghoul. Hopefully as the BC Cons reverse just about every single environmental protection in place, every single person who voted for the Greens gives their head a shake. They won't. They never do.

They might actually be stopping a Conservative majority by winning West Vancouver though. That might even turn the election result altogether.

I mean, the Greens look to be getting about half the vote share they got in 2017 and 2020, so a bunch of people did switch. But yeah, the die hards who are still voting green in toss up districts are pretty out to lunch. The 2 ridings on Vancouver Island where the Conservatives are leading right now would be NDP if even a small fraction of Green voters supported the NDP.

There are something like 10 ridings where the Green/NDP vote share is way above the BCC candidate. This is the same story from 2013 and 2009. Green voters are people who want a right-wing government but want to maintain the moral high ground over people who openly vote for right wing parties.

This could be really interesting if the Cons win 46-45-2. Technically the incumbent gets first crack to form gov't, and you'd have to think the Greens would support that...and it just makes sense because the combined popular vote would be about 53-43%.

Cons will lose their minds...which will hopefully just be funny, but who knows these days...

Luckily there's very recent precedent for that in BC. The Liberals won the most seats with 43 vs. 41 for the NDP and 3 for the Greens in 2017, but the NDP ending up forming the government with support from the Greens.

On a night that a majority of British Columbia sits in the midst of an atmospheric river, causing massive flooding and damage, we are poised to elect into power a party that denies the existence of climate change on the back of people who exclusively care about the acknowledgement of and combat of climate change.

As a Transformers fan I am going to turn to a Transformer for their thoughts on the future for British Columbians. We go now to Stunticon, Dead-End.

I definitely don't know very much about the political leanings and tendencies of Surrey but those 6 or 7 ridings are so close. The only thing I really remember hearing about Surrey over recent years is their struggle between municipal and RCMP policing.

The reason you knew it was going to be Surrey was the money being spent in promises

Pretty embarrassing that the Cons are this close to forming government in this province. I get it, people are unhappy. But your solution is to vote for a bunch of climate-denying conspiracy theorist clowns just for the sake of change? So dumb. I hate people so much.

"But my parents have voted conservative why shouldn't I just keep voting that way! We need change!"

This is how...

Where are you guys tracking the results?

CBC has is currently 46-45 for the NDP (either elected or leading). With the Greens leading in 2.

With at least two riding, possibly 4, still flippable and a couple of them going to recount, this won't be over tonight.

Amazing result for the conservatives considering they basically cobbled the party together in a couple of months.
