No, they think every player will be even better this year, because Connor is the greatest leader ever. Did you not see him yelling?

His yelling cross-overs are elite.

They already soured on Skinner and haven't even played a game yet lol.

Shrewd move by the greatest GM Jim Jackson. Same genius who signed Brown to that 3 year deal to make it easier to waive him, apparently he didn't see that he absolutely sucks.

There is a lot of hoping and praying that the players they are putting around McDavid will be good enough to tread water so McDavid can do his thing. They keep going on saying the Arvidsson's and Skinners are adding 1st line offence numbers playing 3rd line minutes. It doesn't add up.

More like 4th line minutes. Will they even get PP time? With the amount of PP's they get gifted and McDavid and Pissy never leaving the ice they will hardly get touches.

I love that all the pundits are picking E=NG to win.

It will make the moment reality hits that much sweeter.

There has been a lot of discussion about their defense being worse than last year, but few are talking about the reduction in size and speed up front - especially while Kane is on LTIR. These are their wingers to start the season:

RNH - Hyman
Arvidsson - Skinner
Janmark - Perry
Podkolzin - Connor

That is old, slow, small, and soft as butter.

Last year, their forecheck and Ozone physicality was led by: Foegele, McLeod, Kane and Holloway. This year they are back to the team of 5 years ago - soft, and waiting for McDavid and Draisaitl to do something.

Jeff Skinner is the new Kyle Turris who was the new Tyler Ennis. Former second liners with generic white dude name who will be out of the league in a season or two.

Yeah, I feel like I am missing something big time by not seeing, at all, how Edmonton can be such an overwhelming favorite for all these pundits.

And freakishly healthy. They faced very little actual adversity.

Let's compare that to the Flames' wingers (with Sharangovich in for Honzek, which will be the case in a few weeks):

Sharangovich - Kuzmenko
Huberdeau - Mantha
Zary - Coleman
Lomberg - Klapka

The only spot where you would give the nod to the Oiler is Hyman vs Kuzmenko. Otherwise, it's even at worst, with several spots favouring the Flames.

Yes, I know that their Cs are better than ours. But we're comparing 'the Stanley Cup favourites' to a lottery team, for the entire group of wingers, and giving the nod to the lottery team.

Edit: and the Flames have Coronato, Honzek and Pelletier behind that. THe Oilers have... Savoie

McDavid and Draisaitl mask a lot of flaws. These new ones are the size of the grand canyon. The narrative by mid season will be that there is only so much they can do because the other pleebs aren't digging in enough.

And when they aren't steamrolling the league (like the pundits think they will be), the narrative will change to: they are saving it for the playoffs.

Was it Turris that the GM called out for not scoring enough and that was the reason the missed the play offs one season?

I can absolutely see it happening where the rest of the tam quits on Mavi, because they are tired of being blamed for Mavi's own failures.

Especially when the majority of the players are vets over 30. I can totally see them having a shorter runway with the antics. Hell Skinner is probably already tuning people out as he is collecting pay cheques from the Sabres until 2030.
