Right now, puckpedia is showing them about $2.7 million under the floor with a 22-man roster and johnny's cap removed. They don't have any players under contract that could get them to the floor with a 23-man roster.
Will the league give them an exemption from the floor this season due to tragically unexpected circumstances, or are they going to be forced to acquire one or more players to get them to the floor before the start of the season?

Are there any interesting names (UFA or RFA) that are still unsigned?

Silverberg, and JVR? That's all I can think of. Are there any good forwards left?
Hoffman maybe? Who else is out there? T. Johnson?
I assume that Pavelski, Okposo, and Wheeler all retire.

Silverberg retired if I recall correctly.

That's too bad, I thought he was still effective last year.

Is Ryan Johansen signed yet?
Tyler Johnson?
Lebanc? Clutterbuck?
All older guys but thats what will be available at this point...and i would have to believe any one of them would take a 1 year deal at this point.

Word I'm getting is Mercer or at least his agent Brisson want $6.5 long term, except for when Hughes went down Mercer wasn't happy the way he was used last season either, perhaps a little decent?

Can't imagine anyone is going to sign Johansen while he's grieving his contract termination with Philly.
Johnson is on a PTO somewhere.
Kessel is basically begging for work.
Van Riemsdyk is still out there. Aston-Reese, Wade Allison, Wheeler, Gurianov, Logan Brown. Slim pickings. But Toronto is apparently trying to dump cap.

Kessel is 8 points off 1,000 and they also have skyline chili in Ohio... Seems like a perfect fit.

PG Pagaeu leaps to mind, as a candidate that can still play, and is available. The Isle have lots of bodies at forward, and some impending cap issues to take care of. The only bump is that he has submitted a list with 16 teams on it, and Columbus could very well be one.
Columbus doesn't really need a centre, but either someone could be pushed to the wing, or.... Sillinger could find a new home in Calgary?
That's where my lottery money is going.

Sillinger dated Calgary girl Tate McRae for a while. Hopefully she converted him from being a known Oilers fan over to our side....

There are probably teams like the Leafs or Oilers who want to dump cap before the season starts, and may give up something to do so.

We shouldn't give up the number of draft picks required to make that happen.
While Kuzmenko has positive value, its not more than Huberdeau's negative value.

The downside for all involved with those teams, is that the players that they want to dump really don't help Columbus. Even with the sad news, the Jackets are coming out of a rebuild, and probably don't want to start over.

Coming out of a rebuild?
CBJ have some nice pieces but haven’t shown anything close to a playoff calibre team. They will need to pick up a few vets short term to make the floor and ice an NHL lineup.
