The city communication strategy lost a lot of people when they started coming up with a lot of rules of varying degrees on who can water and who can't on which days. It almost got to the point where if you have a blue shirt on and have slept with fewer than 11.3 people you can water on Tuesday's between these hours. Those people who live at an even numbered address, with a different shade of blue shirt on and slept with more than 11.3 people can water on that day.

Acutally who is following those types of rules where it became a water jug comparison? People are paying attention to the cost of their rent, mortgage payments and how you need to sacrifice both to buy a prime rib for a family.

It would be helpful if they actually took the time to have a compensation model in place for businesses that rely on a lot of water and don't have many options. When the city is asking you to accept thousands and thousands of dollars in losses and more, you really need to have some basic answers as to who is going to help pay the bills.

Watering your lawn and plants is a total leisure luxury. Anybody who has time for that #### can deal with a few rules that serve to reduce total consumption. My neighbour would water every day if he could. I'd have my sprinklers set to run more often (though I learned this year that I don't need to water my lawn, at all, ever).

Giving you a specified date to water based on your address is about as complicated as figuring out when it is your day for show and tell.

It really wasn't that complicated, even number houses on these days, odd number houses on these days. No shirt colours or sexual histories involved.

As you know, I am kidding. I have just seen it in my social circle, the friends and family who used to be militant about water use, following rules, coming up with innovative measures to not waste valuable drops and more, have just stopped caring. This was a crisis for them in June but now that seems ages ago

They used to follow closely online, the youtube channel and more but just don't really bother now. Some people have gone completely off the deep end and it's become a badge of honor to waste water and water plants/lawn. Foolish I know but that is people.

A better strategy would be to have a once a week update, discuss how things are going and highlight the seriousness nature that this entails using real world examples of why this is more mission critical. Sometimes less info is more update wise. There are a lot of countries that are facing actual water crisis and the water is just turned off in certain areas until more can start flowing.

It would trigger a hoarding response and likely increase consumption.

I think they have taken the wrong approach with the boil water threat. There are more intervening measures between where we are now and boil water. I think conversations about what escalation looks like would have been better then conserve or boil.

I think they also made a mistake in using 450 as the initial target. It was probably the conservative number but it being substantially lower then before begs questions.
