Draisaitl got engaged this summer, not married (recall the special backward hat). That gives his fiancé all winter to contemplate living in Shelbyville versus all the other cities the WAGs she talks to and compares notes with ... she’s going to pressure him all season (if she hasn’t already) to move elsewhere.

I don't think anyone outside of Oiler fans expected this deal to get done before the season started. For some reason, they think their city is completely comparable to other top markets in the league and believe a couple years of being a top contender outweighs starting a family in a city of their choice while making more money.
There's very little reason for Draisaitl to commit long term right now before he knows for sure what McDavid is doing. Even if McDavid told him "Yeah i'm probably going to stay." and I expect that never happened, a lot can change in a year.

Even if McDiver told him he's probably gonna to stay, his fiancé will tell him no way in hell I'm gonna stay in Bumonton for 8 more years! She probably doesn't want to stay there for 8 more months.

She's from Sudbury iirc, so Leon to the Leafs e3.
(but actually they've been together a while, so I'm sure she knows what the winters are like)

The resident Oiler's homer in the office is now saying that Nurse will re-emerge as a top pairing defenseman. He can't give any examples of him playing like a top pairing dman though

Is that what it has come down to. Although, I do find it amusing that the only year in his 10 seasons that he looked like a decent Dman was that career year before the big contract. His shooting percentage was over 10%, doubling his career avg. Talk about cashing in.

They’re lucky they have Ekholm. He’s the bandaid keeping that D together. Without him Bouchard is a tire fire and pylon is forced to more ice time.

Can anyone find a video of the big hit Coleman threw on McDavid last season? I recall Sportsnet had a clip of it on Youtube, but now when I search for it, there only thing that comes up is the part where Janmark ambushes Coleman and forces him to fight. It's like the actual clip of the hit disappeared.
