Tomorrow is looking to be very wet, windy, and generally miserable. But then a nice bounce back to mid-20s, and even high 20s if you trust the forecast 4 or 5 days out.
I have a weather-related question. The Environment Canada weather station at Canada Olympic Park is the closest to me, so the app defaults to it. The location comes up as "Greenview, AB." Why is this?
Not to be mistaken with Greenview industrial area, or Thorncliffe-Greenview community, or the Municipal District of Greenview in Northern Alberta. This is definitely the COP station - just called "Greenview".
I can find no historical reference of the COP/Winsport/Paskapoo area ever being referred to as Greenview. Does anyone know?

Environment Canada recently updated their location database and added a ton of extra "places". You'll notice it if you had Calgary bookmarked. It now sends you to a page showing nearby locations, and the new web URL now shows coordinates for Calgary instead of "AB-52". I assume this is a change to model based forecasting instead of location specific. There's no way they're actually forecasting specifically for Shepard in the SE!

I have noticed that my old bookmark takes me to that same page. "Greenview" pre-dates this though.
If you click on all of those locations, they all say "Observed at:" and include Calgary, Calgary International Airport, and Canada Olympic Park.
So no, there isn't a weather station at Conrich. But there is one at COP. And it has been called "Greenview" for ages. Why? WHY?
