I think these types of turning lanes would be useful at intersection like Shaganappi/John Laurie, Shaganappi/Country Hills and Sarcee/John Laurie and Sarcee/Bow Trail (although there already is an upgrade plan for that intersection.)

Rumour has it that the westbound bridge over the Bow will be opening next week.
Stoney may once again be usable during rush hour.

Does that effectively "finish" Stoney? I know that they finally got rid of the final 80 zone in the NW near Nose Hill Drive. Will there be any remaining sections with significant work happening?
I tend to stick to the NW and SW except on rare excursions, so I don't know what's happening elsewhere (aside from the gripes in this thread about the aforementioned Bow River bridge in the far south).

Got this email the other day:
Quote:
Traffic shift to westbound bridge begins the evening of August 27, 2024
Drivers travelling through the South Bow River Bridge construction project limits can prepare for upcoming traffic shifts beginning the evening of August 27, 2024. Currently both eastbound and westbound traffic on Stoney Trail are using the eastbound bridge. Installation of expansion joints occurred on August 13, 2024 on the westbound bridge. Following the required curing period and other ancillary works, the project team is preparing to shift westbound traffic onto the westbound bridge.
The traffic shift will take several days to be fully implemented. Drivers are asked to use caution, obey speed limits, and stay focused when navigating through the area as travel patterns will change. The attached graphic shows the existing and future configuration. Following the shift drivers can expect three westbound travel lanes (two full lanes and one for the ramp to Chaparral Boulevard) and two eastbound lanes over the river.
Construction workers will remain onsite on and under the bridges as tie in work, site reclamation, and finishing works continue across the site. Construction speed limits will also remain in place while workers are present and until the project is fully complete. Drivers can anticipate short term lane closures or other travel impacts following the traffic shift. Similarly, pedestrians using surrounding pathways can expect intermittent short term pathway closures or impacts as work continues. Effort to mitigate impacts to the travelling public will also continue, where possible.

They also announced that rehabilitation work on the eastbound bridge will commence Oct 3rd 2024 so all traffic will be re-routed to the westbound bridge. This work is expected to be complete August 2026.

I would hope so.. but knowing that project I wouldn't be surprised if they did shut down the new one for 2 years.

With the amount of time this has taken you think they'd have been able to put down fresh asphalt and lines on the bridge to line up to the existing lanes before opening the road.

Did they actually not? I drove by Saturday and Sunday (both amazing days to get some last minute work in btw) and it looked very unready to open, missing pavement in one spot, existing detour lines still there and no new lines painted.
So they still went through with it? Amazing.

New bridge looks like it’s teed up for tomorrow…. Sorta… maybe.
It’s definitely not done. So must be only partial lanes. And it did not look like lanes were painted yet and now it’s suppose to rain all night and day haha. Love it. 2027 here we come.

Just checked the traffic cam and looks like it’s open. Still two lanes across the westbound bridge from Stoney but it looks like the McKenzie Lake exit to Sun Valley exit gets a lane.
Eastbound is still two lanes.
