6.5 seems really high for a last place team. Granted this won't consider injuries, mutiny, and implosion. It's a new era with Mayo, but on the surface they're a ways back of Miami, Buffalo, and the Jets. The combination of suspect offensive line, rookie QB, and mediocre skill position players is very Carolina-ish...so is the meddling owner too. Betting markets have the Patriots, Broncos, and Panthers as the teams with lowest beatable win totals. I don't think I'd bet under 3.5...and I wouldn't better over 5.5..so 4.5 to me seems like a fair middle number.

Never been a Sirianni guy, thought they let go of Pederson too soon. The Super Bowl run was defense and timing. Many issues last year but I thought the misjudged the age of the roster especially on defense. And, I am still waiting for them to care about linebackers.

Disagree with most of those takes. They were going to keep Pederson until he bombed his exit interview and refused to commit to making any changes to a team that needed drastic changes. He had to go at that point.

The Super Bowl run was primarily because the offense was the best in the league and Hurts playing at an MVP-level. Losing Steichen was a big blow to the team.

Gannon's vanilla-ass defense in 2022 was good against below-average QBs, but usually got lit up pretty badly when they faced anyone half-decent.

I agree on misjudging the age of the roster and not spending resources on LBs, but that's 100% on Howie, not Nick.

Maybe it was more National media types who had the Siriani is pure Philly narrative until things turned last season. Now I get the impression that these same guys are trying to sell a Siriani and Hurts don't get along storey. You follow them closer than I do so that whole thing could be false.

I think the Hurts/Sirianni blowup is being overblown. There were clearly problems last year. Even during preseason, the local writers were talking about how bad the vibes were around camp. This year, most of the reports are that it's all business and everyone seems to be on amicable terms.

Sirianni has one of those personas that are fun if you're a fan of the team and they're kicking ass, and completely obnoxious when they're playing like frauds.

Wasn't the Eagles D ranked like 5th or 6th that season? 2nd best in yards given up at least and tops or near the top in sacks. Gannon #### the bed in the SB though. Couldn't figure out his secondary. Offense was definitely Steichen and he was a big loss for sure.

Hadn't heard about Pederson's exit interview. What changes wouldn't he make? Roster would have been Howie so scheme? OC or DC? Memory is foggy on the DC back then. Still think he is a better coach than Sirianni.

They were, but it was mostly because they had a pretty easy schedule. He allowed over 70% completion rates to Dak and a few others. It was bad. They got luck that their road to the Super Bowl was Daniel Jones and then the Niners failing to protect Purdy.

Refused to consider making Hurts the starting QB, wouldn't consider firing the OC at the time (Mike Groh) or Press Taylor (QBs coach) despite the massive regression Wentz and the offense showed that year.

I think him and Frank Reich constructed the perfect offense for Nick Foles to win a Super Bowl, and he deserves major credit for that. Outside of that season though, he's been a very average HC.

He has the ring, and until Sirianni gets one, you probably give the edge to Pederson. That said, Sirianni has a career win percentage of .643, which is good for #3 among active coaches. Pederson is 17th at .537. Pederson has 4 more years of experience over Nick, so TBD for now.

Meh. Chip Kelly was the best coach the Eagles have ever had.

I still remember his first career pass being a pick 6.

Not the same Sam for the Vikings...but likely the same result coming as the Bradford days even if it wasn't planned. Too bad I was interested to see how McCarthy would fare in that offense.

Pretty unfortunate to have a season ending injury in game one of exhibition. He's only 21 years old and will be 22 going into next season so he's still got time on his side. Kind of dulls the Vikings season though as it's hard to get excited about 17 games of Darnold.

JJ could use some seasoning anyway and sitting and learning was best for him this year I think. Tank commander Darnold will get them another top 10 pick and they can build for the future when JJ is the starter next year.

I can't tell if you dislike the fact that a Canadian born CFL QB got a foot in the NFL door or you like beating the dead horse because one or two posters kept saying (incorrectly of course) he was better than a lot of NFL QB's.
